2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Oil Change - 3.6 Pentastar V6

A basic how-to that anyone can and should do on their own. This is the very first oil change on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Although technically not quite due yet, I prefer getting the break-in oil changed earlier on and it's now been 6 months since taking delivery of this new Jeep.

You should pull your oil cap and dip stick. Sometimes that will help drain the oil. Like putting your finger on the top of a straw. That may be why it was dripping for over an hour

Hey Chris, how did your lab report look? I have a '23 Jeep Rubicon with 10k miles now. Mine came with three free dealership oil changes, and I've done one myself now, so I only have one lab report out of four changes. Good little engine...

To send off to Blackstone Labs to do an oil analysis on. It gives a full breakdown of the oil and any metals it's picked up so that you can see the amount of engine wear. It's definitely not necessary, but I find the info interesting and I can share that info with others who might be curious with my vids.

Fyi it takes 5qts of oil

you sure about that? because the manual states 5 qts and the dipstick reads the level is full with me having only put 5 qts in.

@@Scavenger1320 crap I did mine today looked after 5 qts and it was looking like a qt low and my 2014 and 2019 both took 6 qts. I just pulled the stick youre right 5quarts!

@@snipersteve378 There seems to be a lot of confusion online about this. I wasn't sure either at first because the 3.6 in my old 2012 Avenger took 6 quarts too. Apparently there's a 'classic' version and an 'upgrade' version of the 3.6 with the upgrade version using a smaller oil pan to cut down on the weight a little bit. But on top of that there's exceptions to this in some Durangos and Jeeps. I also read these newer 3.6s take longer for the oil to settle back down so you're supposed to wait at least 5 minutes before checking the dipstick. I guess there's so much confusion about it that there's even a manufacturer bulletin on the NHTSA site about this lol. Some of this I honestly just learned today after digging into it a bit more after seeing your first comment.

My owners manual says 5 qts
