I saw your content in my algorithm. I'm excited to see new gardeners, I am a first time container gardener...so help is well needed. Thank you 😊 I just subscribed....and yes I planted zinnias a few days ago... anyway I will be binge watching your channel.

Thanks for watching! We learn something new every year no matter how long we’ve been gardening (I love this about gardening). I started out in containers and still love using them. I hope we can learn from each other!

Thank you for sharing why your cucumber looked like that. That’s exactly how mine look and didn’t know why. Thanks for the info!! ❤

if you harvest the greens off of your onions it will help make bigger bulbs
@herhomeandharvest Жыл бұрын
Yes, I should have done that more! I was doing that earlier in the year but just got lazy as the heat picked up. I planted these bulbs about 4 inches apart though so I shouldn’t have been surprised that some didn’t bulb up 😅.

Great use of your land with all those plants. If you have the time/desire, it would be great if you could sample some of those pluots on camera. I have no idea what is considered an ideal pluot. I get them from the grocery store and some are very soft and others are firm. I don't know which ones are ideal, but I prefer the firm ones for the crispy texture.

Thank you! I have a video on my pluot trees from last year that shows me cutting into the dapple dandy pluot but I plan on making another one this year so stay tuned! I’ll try to show more of the fruit in the new video. The funny thing about pluots is that it really depends on the variety when it comes to soft/firm and coloring. The Dapple Dandy tend to be softer when ripe and more red while the Flavor Grenade are much more crispy and often yellow. My grocery store never labels what kind they are so it definitely makes it hard to choose! More often than not the stores out here are selling the Dapple Dandy variety (nicknamed “dinosaur eggs”). They have a pretty speckled color and round shape.

@@herhomeandharvest I will check out your video from last year. I know the grocers here do the same thing regarding labels. Even though there are many different types of each fruit, they try to combine them all in one bag or clam shell. I guess they don't want consumers wasting time trying to see if flavor supreme is better than dapple dandy. Just pack em all together and call them dino eggs.

@@Sidneytx Yep! My hope is that they’ll start separating them more once they become more popular. At my local farmers market they already do. Farmers markets is where I learned about pluots in the first place!

What an abundant harvest! ❤ you’ve inspired me to really focus more on food production next year so all the water I’m using in the heat of TX is worth it 😅 I’m not sure for certain but I’m thinking the mystery bell pepper could be a poblano or Anaheim pepper! Yummy 💕
@herhomeandharvest Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And I would love if it’s an Anaheim pepper! I love those and they’re pricey in stores. Stay cool out there! I know the weather is a little toasty there right now ☀️🔥
