We explained it. The competition has fixed that problem. You no longer have to be stuck with a 3 row SUV that drives like trash. You can have comfort and a good driving experience. If you are spending 50k don't you want a car that does it all?

@@savagegeese I agree with you, And I agree that Journalists should not pull punches and be critical of products and point out how the competition does better. Super agreed with your takes boys. Like visually in most senses they crush it.. looks are beautiful. Inside and out. The part that pushed me to the other brands, specifically I ended up going with Mazda, was that driving dynamic. I felt completely disconnected from the road with the Kia/Hyundai. While with the Mazda I still felt like there was a focus on driving feel, and as someone who enjoys the feel of the drive it was important to me. But absolutely for those, and there is quite a large audience for, who just want to go A to B in comfort without thinking about anything else.. they would be perfect.

I feel like you guys kind of complained about a problem that isn't really a problem for owners in this segment. I get you guys are driving enthusiasts. You want captivating, engaging drives anytime you are behind the wheel. That is not what this segment is. You spent most of the time flooring it in this review. Tossing it into turns. Full transparency. We bought a 2023 Telly SX Prestige for my wife. I am an enthusiast. I have a supercharged S2000. The people that buy these, and the reason we bought one, is almost in a way the opposite of why you are critiquing it. This is a straight line, a to b, get your family to the destination in as much comfort, with as many little electronic niceties to keep everyone entertained, all at a good value. I don't care what it feels like when I am tossing it into a 30 mph turn at 55. I care how well a rear-facing car seat fits in the back and can an adult fit in the third row for short stints. I don't care how fast it accelerates...although it's totally adequate. I care about it having one of the best lane keeping systems out there and a ton of standard safety for our trips to make boring drives easier and safer. The Telluride and Palisade still knock it out of the park in what they are meant to do. Offer comfort with tons of features. The competitors didn't blow it out of the water in those areas important in this segment. Most of them are still behind after refreshes. They improved what isn't all that cared about. I still think the Telluride is the best looking vehicle in its class, too. Let's put it this way. I am never going to ask my wife when she gets home with the kids "did you have a nice spirited drive through the canyons?" No, it's "did you have a comfortable drive and were the kids entertained? Were you able to fit everything you needed for the day with ease?" I really like your reviews but you need to look at different segments taking into account what buyers in that segment want. In this one, it is not driving dynamics. That was your focus. You said Kia and Hyundai don't put the money into the stuff underneath. You're right. But what is there is completely competent for the purpose. Where they put their money is in the places that matter in this segment. Like you said, feels like you are driving a $70K car. Great utilization of space. Great tech. Everything a buyer with a family wants. Oh, and nothing really gets great gas mileage in this segment other than the Hybrid Highlander and maybe the new CX-90 hybrid. The Telluride is pretty average in the pack.

It's a big SUV, not a sports car. It's meant to be attractive, comfortable, and haul people and cargo. It checks all of those boxes and does it for an unbeatable value. If that isn't proof that Kia has come a long way and Honda is struggling to make compelling vehicles, I don't know what is.

The Japanese always benchmark other companies' products actually. It's been occurring for decades. It's all fun and dandy at first, but when defects start showing up like ABS fires, trailer hitch fires, fires to the fires, or 1 million plus vehicles needing a new engine that is troublesome to me. The Japanese using old, outdated designs sometimes appeal to me as I cycle a vehicle through my family until its 15-20 years old and has 250,000 or more miles. I know I can trust my Honda or Toyota to do that no problem.

@@midwestfarm757 what's troublesome is Honda and Toyota not recalling their major defects and instead quietly issuing service bulletins for issues like prematurely failing transmissions and piston ring defects causing massive oil consumption. It's kinda of strange to vilify a company for standing behind their products with a better warranty and replacing major components up to 100k miles. Design wise, I still feel like the Telluride (and Palisade) are my first choices. As far as driving dynamics, I don't have the luxury of driving a multitude of vehicles so I can't say much but I can say that I don't have any complaints yet besides it could use more power (this is coming from a V8 owner). Love savagegeese, but did not agree with most of this review. I own a 2020 Telluride. I understand the competition has worked hard to compete with the Telluride which just a a year or two ago was by far the cream of the crop of the segment. However, the tone of the review was what I would expect from a Mitsubishi Mirage. Come on guys! Seriously? This is still an amazing vehicle. Yes it drives like a couch, I'm sure the new Pilot drives a bit better. I'd like to test drive it to see. However, to say this does not get good gas mileage is misleading. Doesn't it get the same as the Pilot? This was not mentioned. I just drove from Detroit to Hilton Head, South Carolina 4 days ago in my 2020 Telluride with 3 adults and 2 young children in the car packed with luggage and I got 27 mpg on the way down. Mostly highway, but up and down several mountains. I'll take that!!! Not as good as the Highlander, but that Highlander is much smaller. My big fault with this refresh is getting rid of the iconic square running lights and there is some brown plastic in the interior where mine is black, I think they over did it with the brown inside, but that's a personal thing. Anyway, I was a Buick Enclave owner before this and this Telluride drives almost as good as the Buick, I'll take that too! I am not a racecar driver, but I do like and enjoy driving dynamics, but I also like a good cruiser for what it is. I think you 2 were a bit hard on the beloved Telluride.

You all need to understand. This SUV has a minivan chassis with flimsy front sub-frame and just adequate suspensions. Just put it on a lift and look at it. Compared to Explorer, older Pilot or even Chevy Traverse. And Pilot is also a minivan chassis but highly modified to meet the need with much better suspension setup. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent "car" but it ain't an off-road worthy SUV at all. It got trashed by a famous Korean car reviewer Nobossindustry (he puts all his review cars on a lift) for being just enough to pass by subframe - he gets all his cars from actual owners. He also trashed it for its high speed dynamics when lane changing. He said it's an okay car for a mall crawler people carrier. He also said the previous VW Tiguen is a piece-of S*IT (absolutely worst example of cheaping out on an ancient chassis). His philosophy is that foremost, a car must have a good chassis setup with good suspension. Everything else is secondary. Don't be swayed by the shiny interiors. Car is a people carrying metal case. SAFETY is the Number 1 element that you must consider. That means, stability, vehicle dynamics during high speed travel, braking abilities, road noise, vibration filtering setup, etc. By the way, he thinks, BMW makes some of the best chassis and suspension engineering with best component setups for a mass produced auto maker. He mentioned even Mercedes is cheaping out now days.

Gotta disagree. I've owned a 2022 telluride for nearly a year now. 8k miles. And I absolutely LOVE the driving dynamics considering it's a BIG 8 seater SUV. I had a Durango for a few months previously and sure it definitely was more engaging but it also had 20% worse fuel economy. We drove it down Route 1 from SF to Santa Barbara and it was accelerating uphill on the highway with ease (with 6 people inside). Steering is tight and very responsive too. I've also done the same drive in a Carnival and while that's decent too (for a minivan), the Telluride is way superior. Bottom line from my experience of owning this car: Considering this is a big SUV, and extremely well priced with a top notch interior design it's driving dynamics are perfectly fine.

@@mikekeller5202 I disagree with the presenter's definitive declaration that they "hate the way the telluride drives" because it has "slow steering", "sloppy steering inputs" and it's "not fast", "it's not quiet" and the "engine is lifeless" and that it "feels cumbersome". That's what I totally disagree with. I have driven it 8k miles over the past 9 months across California, primarily in suburban areas as well as on route 1. For everything from commuting, to school drops, to road trips, to grocery runs.. In my view it accelerates amazingly well on the highway even when it's full, it has a perfectly capable steering without feeling like it's "too big", and is really comfortable in 35mph roads as well as on the highway.. 👍

Dealerships need to go. It's been proven the past few years that they do absolutely nothing positive for the vehicle buying process, while simultaneously providing poor service and tacking on "market adjustments". We have put 18,000 miles on in less than a year and is has given us zero problems (hasn't started on fire either). The driving assist is excellent and makes long road trips much easier, It is much quieter than our buzzy old CR-V, and despite what Mr goose mentions we average 29 on the highway when our old CR-V got 32 despite being much smaller. Oh and we paid MSRP because fuck scabby dealerships. Overall this is the best vehicle we have owned in regards to an appliance and people mover.
