I love Anakee Wild, but try Bridgestone AX41 when you can. They are even better. Rear tyre has to be 150/70/R18 in AX41.

You absolutely right. Rade Garage do a really nice 5 litre tank for the 690 which would give you over 200miles. It fits where I have my storage box under the seat. Something I’d of added if I kept the bike.

Beautiful build mate, I have a 21and I love it. I find the EO7+ which is the not the OEM tyre, a fantastic all round tyre. I can take it right to the edge cornering on road (all hero blobs gone) and I can get anywhere off-road with it, even deep mud. Also lasts well, totally different to the OEM E07,(but avoid the Dakar version at all costs dangerous on wet roads). One question, you do all that beautiful graphic work etc but you leave the ugly stickers on the frame, why? All the info is logged with KTM anyway on the VIN so they serve no purpose. They are the first thing I remove with a heat gun when I buy a new KTM.

I tried the e07s on my 390 and you’re 100% right they are a great all round tyre as well, but the side wall on those thing are so stiff, for me I lost feel when riding in difficult conditions because of that. I’ll definitely be removing the stickers just something I haven’t got around to. Cheers dude 🤙

I truly hope KTM takes Quality Control more seriously...And this doesnt apply only to KTM ... Quality control issues have become more and more common to every major bike manufacturer.. Its a shame that a modern bike can have such a major issue straight out of the factory... Other than that you have a pretty sweet bike here, maybe the most appealing 690 enduro I've seen ...Keep uploading ...you belong to a small percentage of riders who are able to show us the bike's true capabilities- since you have some serious offroad skills ! My last 2 x Yamaha Tracers(900 & 700cc) have both come with Q/C problems, high pressure fuel line blowing off at 80mph,and ABS not working on the current 700cc...not just KTM

Fork shrink can be found at most motocross stores or on eBay, ktm sxf 450 fitment is all good 👍

AWESOME BIKE !!! Hey what size is the rear tire ? I see that michilin tire come in 140/80/18 ( stock size ) also available in 150/70/18 - have you tried a 150 tire ? Any recomendations ?

Yeah stock ride height and suspension, I actually wound the pre load off the rear. Maybe looks that way because it’s on a stand 👍

Hey No you don’t have to, I spoke to Richard at RadeGarage directly and also Olly from wrenchride here in the UK about this. With the airbox and exhaust it is still within the parameters of the AFR, but, to get the best out of it a re map would be good. The hard part is finding someone that has the software for newer 690 motors. No piggy back fuel controller, fuel dongle or o2 delete will work with the latest ktm690 engine, it would require a full ECU re map, when you try to have any of those in line fuel controllers the ecu is clever enough to adjust and revert back to its factory settings, I’ve tried 2 different fuel dongles and neither of them made any difference. There is a pretty noticeable flat spot between the closed loop fuelling (upto around 4000rpm) and open loop fuelling (anything after 4000rpm) with the airbox mod, which is actually where I find myself a lot on the road, which is really annoying. I will 100% be getting a re map as soon as I can. But to answer your question the bike is completely safe with the airbox mod and exhaust setup

I’m cross shopping between a 701 (same as the 690) and a tenere 700. Any experience with the midsize adventure bikes? Also any update with getting an ecu remap in the UK?

Hey, yeah I’ve had big adventure bikes. In my opinion the t7 isn’t really comparable to the 701/690. Its a fair bit heavier with less power and although it looks like an off road bike it’s definitely more of a road bike that can do light off road, the suspension will definitely need upgrading on the Yamaha it’s terrible in stock form. But it’s still a great bike, just depends what you want from the bike. That’s my thoughts on it anyways :) I still haven’t got around to having a re map but the bike seems to be running sweet

Did you have issues with the oil pressure lamp taking a while to Turn off After Start up ? Got a 23 690 which Takes quite Long some times and makes ugly noises when the pressure Takes to long After Start up… mostly when its warm and was turned off for a few Minutes

@@timax7743 hey, I would almost certainly say that’ll be the cam chain tensioner. It’s a worrying noise but the tensioner needs oil pressure to work. A bit of a rubbish design in my opinion. I had one stuck closed when the spring failed inside the unit once, which meant it wasn’t doing its job, obviously.

@@timax7743 I guess it depends on oil temperature at the time of start up. If it’s really hot the pressure with no doubt take longer to build. There are a few options for alternative cam chain tensioners, but I’d be careful with manual adjust ones. I’ll be honest I sold all of my Austrian bikes now. And probably won’t buy another one.I’ve had a fair few over the years and all but one have had major issues.

Still liking the cut down wind screen? Considering cutting mine due to buffeting at my height but was concerned about the strength once the rolled edge is removed on top.

Super solid still man, and a new screen from rade is only 69euro so if you do it and dislike it, it’s not at a massive expense, I did it more for off-road riding. I found I kept smacking my helmet chin guard on it when attacking stuff 👍
