Did you guys liked sunshine in the mirror? I am not gonna lie, i really like love live, especially for the huge amount of songs that are released and the variety of styles. I also like the anime, even if it's not great and kinda repetitive, but it's still fun. However, i consider Sunshine to be actually a pretty good series with well written characters, much better than the others to be honest, and i was really hyped for sunshine in the mirror, i was expecting a really nice and new plot. Well, that didn't happen. I still got some nice things out of it. For instance, the characters (re)design and animation were great, some pretty cool songs were produced (like the opening which i really love). But, overall, there is no story, it's just Yohane feeling insecure (sometimes even without a real reason) with the other girls helping her. I really like sunshine and Aqours, but sunshine in the mirror really let me down. Even Yohane, which is the center of the story, is poorly written i think. I really liked Yoshiko in the main series because she had her own insecurities but she also had a strong will and specific opinions about stuff, for example, i really liked the episode with Riko and Laelaps where she explains why she believes in "magic" even if she know it's not real deep down. That's great writing for me and really made Sunshine special and new to me. All this is lost in sunshine in the mirror, all characters are really plain (except maybe for Mari which initially has a different twist, but it quickly fade away...). What do you think? P.S. I don't want to upset anybody, it's just my personal opinion and i am curious to hear your opinion about it.

I agree with you! The only things that I liked in sunshine in the mirror were the songs, the animation and the Yohamaru relationship

I kind of agree. I loved the animation, and the songs, and episode 3 which was absolute insanity, but the rest... I mind, some great concepts were introduced (like Kanan with her robot frog and You with her flying contraption) and never actually used in the story. It was not a terrible series, it was ok, but there was so much wasted potential, many of which was only realised in the game (which was great IMO). Idk... maybe a second season can fix some things.

Extremely wasted potential. It's entirely because they insisted on making it about performing songs and excessive amounts of slice of life (likely an executive decision). They changed the setting, and who the characters are, but the writing didn't reflect that change, giving the impression that they couldn't decide on a theme We got a lot of good things out of the project as a whole though, so there's that
