Gannon running up 18 reminds me of a college level tournament we had for ball golf. This dude was playing super well, had the outright lead the whole tournament, it was getting dark as we got to 16 and we all decided to play on, this guy shot an 8 and a 7 on 16 and 17, got to 18 and tee off uphill to a blind green. He never found his ball and took a 5 for re teing. He ended up 3rd place.

For people who have known him for years, yes. But he is not good enough to bring attention to the sport. If this coverage was on ESPN it would not have been a good thing for disc golf. He says to many dumb, irrelevant, unfunny things.

@@obhmusic then it's real good that he is on jomezpro. I think jomez and these guys' commentary has been a part of what has launched this sport through the roof during corona. Just go play the first two holes in the morning? Little warmup holes before final round
@erakfishfishfish Жыл бұрын
From the players’ perspectives, if they blow the horn at 8:15, they’ll have to resume super early in the morning, which means that doesn’t leave time to get back to their vans/hotels/etc, have dinner, and sleep before getting up extra early the next morning. Finishing the round super late isn’t ideal either, but we now know which one the players prefer.

Can you give us an insight of how playing a hole unfolds regarding the preparation of each player for every shot? Like is there a timeslot to choose your line and than 30sec to make the throw or how does it work?
@NaughtyPrincessfkhandles Жыл бұрын
I think its like if you arent too slow to your lie, when you arrive there you have 30 seconds figure out what to do and then throw. And if you go to your lie in snails pace and everyone waiting for you they probably time you before you get to the disc. Dont know if this is 100% correct but close enough

Nice putting by Jerm this round
@wyattcupp687 Жыл бұрын
I’m not an expert on the new rules but if I could take a guess, I think you can only receive one warning and then the next is a stroke. In the case of this card, the first warning was directed to the whole card for slow pace of play (with or without any given player exceeding 30 seconds). I the second warning was directed to Gannon, but it wasn’t an immediate stroke despite it being a second warning because, and this is just a guess, is that they regarded the card as it’s own entity to be warned, and so it was technically a warning to a separate person.

At first I didn’t like that they got a warning for slow play, then I saw that the chase card was through 13 when this group finished 9? That’s just assuming the graphics are correct. If so, that’s absolutely terrible. How do you get a 3 hole gap within 9 holes? If this were a golf tournament people would be losing their minds

The JoMez camera guys are usually so good, but I'm surprised they didn't adjust the exposure properly to compensate for the poor lighting. I'd rather see some grain from high ISO than such underexposed video, and this is that rare situation when auto ISO can be your friend. Oh well, hopefully there won't be a need to hone those skills in the future.
@akmadsen Жыл бұрын
I think they'd maxed out the ISO already. Looking at the contrast between the sky and the light from the houses on #18, it looks like it was actually dark (not just dusk or "poor lighting"), and I'm not sure there's more they could have done save for setting up huge lights on the course.
@justin_tang Жыл бұрын
One other thing to note is that Jomez is using cameras that are capturing video at 60 frames a second. At this brightness level most photography cameras would be using a much slower shutter speed.
