We’re well pleased with the standard MG4, having awarded it the carsales Car of the Year title for 2023, but can it make the jump to hot hatch?
The figures certainly suggest so, with the twin-motor MG4 XPOWER offering an incredible 320kW/600Nm and 0-100km/h acceleration in just 3.8sec - unheard of figures when attached to a $60,000 price tag.

The base Exite is missing many features of the excite 64 and many of the essence features. You pay less you get less. Don't like the orange caliper covers take them off.No big deal. But the Xpower has more saftey features than the lower spec mg4's. Xpower has 4 wheel traction for wet weather. Larger rotors and larger 4 pot calipers . Awsome looking mag wheels not plastic wheel covers. Horses for courses. What you find ugly others like. That's is we are all different!

Value for money every MG is on top of the heap, The fact that this MG4 XPower is even an option for the price is crazy. Just watched one go around Nurburgring WOW watching MG4 XPower keeping up with $200,000 Porsche 911 is unbelievable.

Mine (XPower) does not need 60h to charge 10%-80% @50kW 🤔 Is Aussie energy that bad 😂 Error in the video !!! I love the car, but the Software in some areas is still …. crab … lane assist even sometimes dangerous. Vibrations at around 105km/h - 150 km/h from the steering system as it seems (might only be relevant for us here in Germany, though)

you need your tyres calibrated, my Xpower is dead stabile up to full 200km/t no vibrations at all.. i love my MG4 Xpower, but i totally agree with the software, its really sucks. funny no one of the motor jounalist no even mention this.. so much Wrong. I´m comming from a Mini Copper (NON "S" F56 best BMW engine ever), and this Xpower is my prefred Mini Hot Hatch next gen, Electrical. i don´t care about 80000dollars porsches that handel a bit better, for 3 times the price. they can keep there porsches in my eyes they still looks like a old bettle.

I rather push a mid-engined AWD MG Metro 6R4 than a high-powered MG4 Xpower

As fun as that one trick looks to be, I don't think it's worth the $21,000 over the base model MG4 which is no slouch either when you pop it in to sports mode. Same range, same look (albeit with ugly orange brake covers), slightly nicer upholstery and 3 seconds quicker to reach the speed limit. Perhaps it's not a case of the X-Power being overpriced so much as the Excite being incredibly good value.

Just brake covers rather than good sports brakes is pathetic. At least offer Brembos or something as an option. It also needs a better interior treatment to differentiate it. An upgraded stereo, bigger screen, carbon trims etc.

They are upsized discs from lower trims and using Continental brake calipers.
