Nissan says the X-Trail E-Power's hybrid performance is more realistic than the RAV4's - so which hybrid would you buy?

I ordered the Nissan over the RAV 4, so much more refined than the RAV 4 which is looking a bit dated. The e-power drives much like an EV, it has great acceleration and it is so smooth and quiet. A winner in my books, the fuel consumption is not concerning as some tests on KZbin have shown it can achieve better than what Nissan say.

Exactly and on 10,000 km a year if the difference is 5L vs 6L / 100km (if you can do a bit better than quoted based on more city driving) then that is about $200 of petrol a year for a more refined and smooth ride.

I was interested in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, but I will now include the Nissan X-Trail E-power in my considerations. Comments about the outlander PHEV, especially its' ride quality and real-world fuel economy, make this car look like a better option, even if it doesn't have a plug-in option. Thank you, I found this review very informative.

I took this vehicle out for a test drive. Very impressive. I would also highlight that I am 198 cms tall (6’6”) and like all Toyotas there is no leg room for tall people in a RAV4. The Nissan has ample leg room with approx 4 inches between my knees and the dashboard. Very uncommon in a Japanese vehicle. I haven’t made a decision to buy one yet as I am concerned about no spare tyre and I am a country driver and also the servicing costs are quite substantial. This also concerns me as the complexity of the vehicle could lead to problems down the track as the vehicle is new. Perhaps I will wait six months and see what other owners have to say about it.

I’ve always preferred this type of hybrid concept over the Toyota type even though it cannot possibly be as efficient. Even the small 3 cylinder engine is exactly my preferred engine type to go with this type of hybrid. I’m not surprised that it’s proving to be good.

The RAV 4 HYBRID in the true world is 5.5 to 5.8 l / 100 km. The XTrail E Force gives 6.1 to 6.5.... a bit over half litre for a transformative responsive and serene driving experience, plus equipment and comfort.... A no brainer..for all the reasons you outline in the great report.

Plus there is no spare, or even space saver. Very risky if you do long distances outside built up areas. And premium fuel costs about 20 to 30 cents a litre more than standard regular petrol. And the battery is too small. Drains quickly. And you're left with about 100kw from the petrol engine. Run, run, a mile.

Great Feedback I have taken the Nissan XTrail Ti for a test drive and this is the one we are going to choose, however, it would be nice to see the Audio system accept Android play without having to use a cord. Might wait until next year's model to see if they rectify this option. After all, not everyone has an Apple Phone, and we should have to be disavantage because of it. The car in itself looks fantastic no longer that box look as the XTrail use to be.

Not here to tell anyone what is too expensive or not, yes it is one of the more expensive to service but the servicing costs over the 5 years are the equivalent of a few lattes a week. I prefer servicing more often then less. But that is probably because my current transport requires serving every six months. So it’s not a deal breaker for me. We all have our priorities and I get it’s a deal breaker for some.

I yet drove one of these, the drive experience really is excellent. Way better than the Rav-4. However, fuel economy is no where near a RAV-4 and servicing costs are a joke. However, not being a road warrior, the Model Y is even better, even cheaper to run and zero servicing costs until it’s actually required.

Someone should investigate Nissan’s claims of 6.1 l/100kms. Mine consistently uses about 5.7 even with my spirited driving. RAV4 owners expect 4.8 but say they can’t get below low 5’s. What’s going on? No one expects to achieve the manufacturer’s claims much less improving on them.

The lack of a spare wheel on the high end Epower is a deal breaker for me. Apparently in some other markets a spare is provided so why not In our country with its long distance travel. Also the short maintenance period and cost requires some thought by Nissan to bring the car into line with the competition. Otherwise I'm impressed with the new X-Trail,it seems to be a quantum leap over the previous model.

I have been a longtime subscriber to your KZbin channel and I appreciate the valuable insights and reviews that you provide on various automotive topics. I am writing to inquire about the availability of ProPILOT Assist Park on the Nissan X-Trail in Australia. I understand that this feature is currently available on select models in some regions, including Japan and Europe, but I am not sure if it will be offered on the Australian model of the Nissan X-Trail. I am interested in knowing if and when this feature will be available on the Australian model. Given your expertise in the automotive industry and your experience reviewing various Nissan vehicles, I was wondering if you could shed some light on this topic. Do you have any information on whether Nissan will offer ProPILOT Assist Park on the Australian model of the Nissan X-Trail in the near future? If not, do you know if there are any other parking-related features or technologies that will be available on the Australian model? I appreciate any insights or information that you may be able to provide on this topic. Thank you for your time and assistance. Best regards,

This car seems so pointless! It uses 1.3L/100km more fuel than my 8-yr old Alfa, and doesn’t offer all that much in the way of space. The fact that plugging in the vehicle isn’t an option at this price point seems ridiculous…

@ethanwd
@ethanwd Жыл бұрын
@@odnamorvr3053 Nah, not a hater. It just genuinely sounds pointless. Why spend this sort of money on a hybrid that uses more fuel than a similarly sized regular petrol/diesel wagon, which would cost $10-20k less? Or a PHEV for similar money. Or better yet, an actual EV which could potentially be run on renewables with solar panels on your roof? The price difference between this and a full EV isn't all that substantial... You may notice that I never mentioned the RAV4 in my comment. Funnily enough, my parents had a diesel one of the previous generation. I would far rather drive their old diesel RAV (which achieved similar fuel consumption to this new Nissan) and save $20k+ by purchasing it second hand. To my mind, hybrids are pointless if they can't be plugged in these days... I say the same of any hybrids which don't achieve sub-4L/100km fuel economy or cost similar money to EVs.
