The correct way to hold romel reins is with a closed fist on the rein hand. My husband was once disqualified in a trail class because he didn't have a fully closed fist for the entire run. Not just this exhibitor, but I see a lot of exhibitors making the same mistake. Thankfully the judges didn't penalize this rider. It's too bad my husband was because he had an extremely good trail run.
