This is the best Model X reviewer around. Yes, once you get ventilated seats, you don't go back. So wish I could get my partner into loving this car. She just wanted a sporty car not a Tesla but hoping she shifts to this one soon. I love the Model X but need a truck based on my fireman duties.

Thanks for the kind words. The X is a big car, and certainly not to everyone's taste in style, but it does get up and go, that's for sure. It will be fun to see if the Cybertruck lives up to the hype and I'm sure it will be fun to drive. Thanks for tuning in and for posting. Stay safe.

I'm sure I will adjust to the new normal over time, but yes, Tesla could add some of these features back via software. Since only the X and S have a front screen, I suspect they want more uniformity between the models, and we probably have little hope that they will add more options to the front display.

Something I,as a new X owner has found,is that the top of the steering wheel blocks out a good portion of the top of the display in front of the driver. This is where the FSD advisories illuminate. I just recently missed my first one in two years and now have incurred my first ever Beta “strike”. Seems like these advisories could display on the center screen also.

With the rear hatch closed, the distance from the back of the seat bench to the hatch is 47.5 inches. The hatch slopes inward as you go up and the seats slope backward so 47.5 inches would only be available for a very flat object. The distance from the back of the seat bench, 15 inches up from the false floor to the closed rear hatch is approximately 38 1/2 inches.

We hadn't planned on getting another X, but the recent price reductions and Tesla's "one time" offer to transfer the full self driving was just too hard to resist. An added bonus is that our 5 seat no options version also qualifies for the tax credit. I had convinced myself that there weren't enough improvements between our Raven X and the Refresh X to justify an upgrade but I was wrong in that regard. We don't live anywhere near a Tesla Store, so the first time we were able see the new X was when we took delivery. If you happen to live near a store, see if you can arrange a for a test drive. I'd be curious as to what you think.

Three different cameras were used for this video, a GoPro Hero 11, a Samsung S23 Ultra cell phone, and an Insta360 X2. The opening sequence was recorded with the 360 and the section from 0:30 to 4:00 were on the GoPro. Most of the shots after 4:34 were recorded using the cell phone. You can see a reflection of the camera in the sunglasses. I'm using a mini tripod on the dash for these shots. Of the three, the GoPro gives me the best results, but it can be finicky at times and that was the case on this day, so I switched to my cell phone to finish the video.

Congrats and thanks for your review - appreciate hearing your thoughts on the lack of stalks. You didn’t mention how well the drive selection works to auto select drive or reverse? Also is it much of a stretch to manually reach it? It’s a shame the front doors don’t fully open now, I think it’s close to my most-enjoyed feature. Guess they removed the sensors. I’m still loving everything about my August 2018 X, has free everything and my only expenses have been tires. Since I’m practically deaf it’s always been extra quiet 😛 I also hope FSD v12 is the game changer suggested, the latest version remains basically unusable for me in city driving. Highway is ok but lacks steering accuracy maintaining lane position, especially in narrow lanes and corners. Until it offers a chauffeur mode, I can’t see using it with passengers.
@modelxevfun2858
@modelxevfun2858 7 ай бұрын
Hi Bruce. It is very easy to select forward or reverse using the touch screen. The car automatically selects reverse when I'm backing out of the garage, but it doesn't change to forward after the backout (my driveway is at a right angle to the garage door). It automatically selects forward when I'm pulling away from a curb and there is no one in front of the car. I think there is room for improvement in Tesla's implementation, but for now it is fine, and I have no problem understanding what the car wants to do and it is easy to make a correction if I want it to go in the opposite direction. I'm sure it will become second nature in no time, and I don't miss the stalk at all at this point. The door issue is a bummer. The doors still open and close by themselves, they just don't open more than about 6 inches. Some people have said that the motors and hardware are still in the door and Tesla neutered the feature when they removed the side ultrasonic sensors. Others have guessed that they limited the feature because they had too many instances of damaged due to excessive wind. I don't know what the truth is. It would be great if it is a programming issue and they could implement it with a software update in the future but at this point, I wouldn't count on it coming back. We had free supercharging with our 2017 X and it was hard to give up when we traded it in, but Tesla was only charging 14 cents per kwh at the time (Oct 2020) and I didn't think is was a big deal. Those same locations are now running almost 40 cents per kwh. Ouch. I'm really looking forward to v12 of FSD. I've actually been a bit surprised by the FSD performance in this vehicle. It is far from perfect, but it does seem better than our previous car. It is hard to do a direct comparison, as our new X is on a newer version than what we had in our previous car, but I'm more hopeful than I have been in months. At any rate, thanks for posting and for the positive comments. Take care and have a great week.

Interested to see how you outfit your Tesla model X for winter use… I just ordered my model X plaid edition and it should be here in November December in Oregon. I still have the 19 inch rims and winter tires that I've used on our previous X. They have ample tread so I will use them this winter on the new X. As a side note, I also transferred the all weather Lloyd mats from our previous X. The front floor pan is a bit different from our Raven X, but they will work. Check out my previous videos on my after market winter rims, tires, and floor mats if you are curious. Thanks for the feedback and I'm sure your new plaid will exceed your expectations. :)

@@bt4b4 We have owned 3 different X's, all were equipped with the 20 inch wheels. Most people prefer the look of the 22 inch option as there is less tire sidewall. I have stayed with the 20 inch wheels as they are the cheaper option, offer a bit more range (335 vs 322 EPA rated miles on the 2024 base X) and in theory, they can withstand a more severe pothole hit without damaging the rim. All those issues are important to me over looks, so that it where I'm at.

I reset a trip meter when we installed the snow tires on Nov 1 and we have driven 3122 miles so far this winter. The average consumption over that distance is 318 wh/mi. My records show that we drove our previous X (2021 Long Range Plus) 3 full winters, putting on 14,069 winter tire miles, with an average consumption of 353 wh/mi. Our typical winter trip is mostly highway, 100 miles round trip, driving at 65 mph on two lane rural highways. We are fortunate to have a garage, so we always start out with a warm car. This is our first winter with a Tesla equipped with a heat pump. It has been warmer than normal this winter, so it is hard to do a fair comparison, but I do think that the heating and ducting is an improvement over our previous cars. The heater puts out a lot of heat and warms up quickly. The coldest temperature we have driven this car this winter has been -20 F, but a more typical drive would be around + 15 F. I think the winter range is better with this car than with or previous X. Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember reading that Tesla estimated about a 10% winter range benefit of the heat pump over the previous version and that matches my statistics. Have fun with your new X. We love ours and it has been our best Tesla to date.

@@vce.john1734 This is our 7th winter driving a Model X and it has worked well for us and for the type of driving we do. We are lucky in that we have a garage and a 240 volt 40 amp wall charger, so most of our charging is at home. Cold weather does reduce the car's range, but most of our trips are less than 200 miles ( 322 km) so we rarely have the need to charge outside our home. We have taken some long multi day trips in the winter and the Supercharger network is fantastic for that purpose, but you have to plan properly and make sure to charge the car at the Supercharger after the day's drive is over and not wait until the next morning. A cold soaked car will still charge, it just takes longer as the battery has to warm up first. All in all, there are more positives to owning and driving an electric car in the winter than there are negatives as long as you have the ability to plug your car in each night at home.

With the one in Dubois, it might now be possible to drive the leg from the Jackson Wyoming Supercharger to the Evansville Supercharger.
