2023 SECCA - Dodge City MX Harescramble - 2 sprained ankles

I had a great start, but landed short on a double resulting in 2 sprained ankles. The unfortunate and incredibly hard hit blew the camera off my helmet mount. The camera flying around make it look like carnage. After feeling the impact hard through both ankles, I sat there, let all classes go through, and then made a wise decision to end the day. I later got X-rays which ruled out a break. Lessons were learned the hard way… on to the next race.

Glad you’re OK, I came up short on that double on my first lap. I tried to make sure I remember to it the next laps, it definitely wasn’t forgiving if you came up short. I’ve been watching your videos since you moved up after winning D class you been doing really well man!

Thanks! Recovering well. I watched several come up short and roll through, I just hit weird I guess. Lessons learned haha.

I saw that jump while watching another racers GoPro, and thought hmmm, someone without mx experience is gonna crash and burn there. Poor signeage by the club imho

@@auksmitty Yep, I had a couple of riders ahead of me on lap 3 that had a similar landing on that jump, it looked painful, and I almost forgot it was there on lap 4. #1118 -Carp

@@mauser8515how’d you do in your class yesterday? Man it was hot on the start, I only did a 2 min race. Glad the series has a short break until the next one.

@@auksmitty I managed 10th place in C30+. I was doing pretty well the 1st lap at 7th, and was taken out by a passer on a hill climb during the second lap which put me into 12th, then it was an uphill battle to manage 10th by the end. That put me in 10th in the points. It’s my first year, so I’m excited to even be in the top ten. P.S. I eventually hit that hill a little too slow one time, which gave me a good bit check. From that point on I would launch harder, but my KTM 250XC-W was bottoming out on the jumps . I basically had to Ronnie Mac the jumps doing a wheelie to absorb the landings. Loving the soft suspension in the woods though. I’ve got a lot to learn. I hope that you didn’t need hospitalization. My wife blew out her ankle dancing with our kids. Getting old isn’t for the faint of heart, lol
