Hey Daisy, it is so good to see you again. I thought of you often hoping you and family were doing well. I figured you have been crazy busy just trying to get established on your new property…..which I too can relate to as we moved to a new property as well. I have been keeping some of my herbs in my garden tower but ….I always wanted to put them in a bed, so that is what I will be doing this year. Have a blessed day!

Aww thank you so much! You are soo sweet. Hugs! I'm so happy to be back to my normal routines. The break was definitely needed though. Its important to schedule a rest season and this was it for me. Excited to share more.

You are so cute, such an amazing lady. I have trouble finding time to grow 20 items. This year along with the usual, I’m trying carnations and petunias. So far pretty good results. Just planted an Apricot tree, my first, have been wanting one for awhile. Need a peach yet.

Nice! I love seeing what others are growing. I ordered some of those same storage boxes from Michael’s recently and they came all cracked and broken. How do you plan to grow the different corn without them cross pollinating?
@theryahliegarden Жыл бұрын
What a bummer! Hope you got replacements - the Michael's brand is better than what I've found on Amazon. I've read that 6' distance is enough so I was going to add batches on opposites ends of the garden.

@@theryahliegarden yes, Luckily I as able to exchange the boxes at the store. Good luck with your garden!

The more I learn about natural medicine, the more I see God gave us all we needed. As far as the corn goes, it needs to be planted densely and if you're in a windy area, it will need to be supported in some way. Some people use physical structural supports and others will add extra soil around their base to bury them deeper.

Absolutely! I've been slowly moving towards things given to us naturally for a while now and this was on my to-do but I first had to like making teas...lol. Thank you for the tips on corn - I really needed them.

With corn, you need to make sure they do not cross pollinate, esp. the popcorn with the sweet corn. If sweet and popcorn cross pollinate, the sweet corn will have a weird flavor and texture. I am growing 3 different varieties of field corn for corn meal/flour. I will plant one on March 1st, the second March 21st and the last variety middle of April. This should provide enough time for each to pollinate and stop spreading the pollen before the next variety starts producing its silks. On the 2 sweet corns, not as important they do not cross. Corn should be planted in a block, and requires a lot of water and Nitrogen. They say if you can separate each variety by 600 feet they will probably not cross pollinate, but who has that much room.

Thank you so much Barnett! I'm definitely going to apply your tips because I have no experience. This really helps me plan out my beds better. I'll definitely keep you guys posted.
