so fun! I have sewed 3 of these patterns before! the Pietra pants are a elasticated waist and super comfy. I also sewed up the Luana apron dress and Augustina top. The fabric store is such a goldmine resource. Happy Sewing!

So happy to find another Canadian sewist! Love the long linen sweater, can’t wait to see it on you! The floral fabric would be gorgeous in the wrap dress!

The Pietra pants are nice in a narrow cotton needle cord if you want a pair that are Canadian winter worthy. I have made my daughter a corduroy pair with long legs and a 7/8ths length in linen for spring/summer. She is in Quebec and gets good use out of both. Repurposing fabrics is a great way to be environmentally friendly and you can often get a unique look. I have used table cloths, curtains and duvet covers to make garments with great success. Good luck on your projects. Thinking about wardrobe pieces that mix and match and will be well made and suit you will be a great approach. Wish I had approached my sewing in that way when I was beginning my journey. Taking regular breaks and being mindful of body mechanics will help not just with your current health situation but going forward into old age 😉. If you haven't thought about knitting to co-ordinate with your capsule then I recommend you do that too. A pop of colour in a sweater or shawl can elevate your neutral basics and make the whole outfit sing.

Thanks so much, Nancy! I’ll definitely be sewing up the Pietra pants in a thicker fabric then to make them suitable for winter 😊 I definitely plan on adding some colorful knit shawls and things to add those pops of colour, great tip 😊

We wear fleece leggings under thin pants and under skirts. They are cozy and inexpensive. Makes every bottom a year round item.

Really enjoyed your sewings plans Karlie! I have also the Pietra pants+shorts on my list. I found out that 30minutes session sewing 5 out of 7 days is also more efficient for me... as I will always choose to knit instead of sewing! Take care and wishing you to get rid of these nasty headaches.

It was so lovely to hear your plans and to come across another sewing person with a passion for re using and linen! Total agree that it is worth taking extra time to make things that we can be proud of. I hope you will heal soon and that sewing will always be your happy place 💛

I finally bought myself one of those elasticized bath towels with a Velcro closure. Boy, do I love that thing to put on after a bath or shower! I wear it while doing my hair and makeup every day. Plus, you’re right! It looks lovely hanging on a special hook in the bathroom. You’ve given me the idea to 1) make a couple more for seasonal and holiday use/decor! and 2) make them for gifts! I imagine my granddaughters and my girlfriends and my knitting buddies and my Pilates instructor would all love them in a fabulous linen! My granddaughters especially would love a special Christmas towel! Or a birthday towel! I’m inspired! Thanks! XOjennyinseattle

When I had my colors done decades ago, I couldn’t believe the difference. I’d been choosing summer colors but was a winter. When I started wearing the colors on my chart, people I didn’t even know came up to me to say how great I looked. I’d suggest before sewing a wardrobe, have your colors done so they all make you look great. I think your scarf looks great which means you are probably a summer. Camel is probably a spring or autumn color. Cool (subtract the l) plus lots- l have lots of fabric = Culottes

I really enjoyed your video which serves as a reminder to check out the Fabrics Store again. I have a few of their patterns, but made only one so far. Crafting shouldn't feel like a constant race and competition. You do you. I am looking forward to seeing your finished projects.

You can buy lightweight crepe or flannel wool that would be perfect for your pants or culottes. You may have to order from your fabric store. The print for the dress is beautiful and so subdued that I thought you were showing the wrong side! You really like linen or blends with linen - have you heard of the doggie bag at the Fabric Store? EVERY ONE HAS TIMES WHEN THEY SEW IN A RUSH FOR NO REASON. REMEMBER - THE JOURNEY IN LIFE IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE DESTINATION! I have to remember that for myself. So sorry about your headaches. It seems you have yourself in control about them. Love your vlog but may I make one suggestion? You talk real low and when the introductions come on - they are too loud.Just adjust one or the other. Thanks and I will subscribe.

I also had an epiphany when I had my colors done! Both The Drummer and I are Summers, but earth tones had ruled for so long back then. I felt LOUD in heathered pinks and purples and blues. 😂 Everything I owned including makeup was completely wrong back then. . But by a year later my hair/makeup looked better than ever and I too, got compliments from strangers. And my wardrobe was pretty much effortlessly mix-and-matchable. I missed my favorite Autumn colors, but now I have redheaded granddaughters to get my Hunter Green and Chocolate Brown fix on. 🤎 That system seems to have fallen out of common knowledge with the neutral trends - not unlike the earth tone era! I had a Sephora clerk try to sell me a peach blush last Christmas ‘because I’m fair’ and I thought, “Boy, she’s doing a disservice to a lot of people!” I stuck to my guns, though, and everything still works together. IMHO color seasons are the single most helpful tool for a capsule wardrobe! The original book is still the best, too. My g’daughters got it from the library recently. I was also helped by learning about the Pantone color palettes because they dictate what the industries will be producing. After observing for a few years I figured out my part of the country (PNW) is a year behind whatever is being released! Trends clearly sweep from Europe, the East Coast, and crawl West. Since my neutrals are grays and navy/blues, I can watch for the years those colors are popular. Then I buy coats, boots, handbags, etc. because if orange is the trend I’m going to be out of luck! If the trending color is in my palette, I stock up on yarn and crafting supplies, too. And I can predict home decor purchases. How helpful! Sorry I got excited. I’ve just been teaching the girls all this so we’re having a blast. I signed on to teach them this stuff so they can be careful consumers starting right now in their high school years. Nobody ever knew to teach me. The elder g’daughter even asked if car companies use the Pantone colors (yes) so she is going to track when she likes the color of the year to plan her first car purchase! It occurred to us that what we find in the thrift stores is even affected by this system, so now we’re going to try to notice how long it takes for things to cycle into the secondhand market by when the color was first introduced in the stores! The whole cycle! We all three love to thrift, so it’s a new twist on the adventure. 🙂
