this really reminds me of the first year of SLS. Everyone was just sorta figuring it out, playing it safe, not too technical. It was this competition that pushed the current lineup in mens to where it is today. I imagine 10 years from now the womens finals will be insane. These girls are literally kids right now and already doing blunt slides down SLS sized hubbas and gapping over massive rails.
@talk-supersix-seven6021 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, seeing momiji do tail slide 270 out in a run, doing crook nollie heel out in best trick it’s really pushing the standard. People don’t appreciate that these skaters have the size disadvantage. You see them improve as they grow up, they have the technicality though it’s just so difficult for five foot nothing Funa to do a nose blunt slide I guarantee if she was 5 foot 10 She’d land it so easily. If you watch their social media they’re doing insane stuff, Funa does heel flips popped to her own hip height down gaps and momiji is doing nose slides 270 heel out!! When they’re adults we will see some insane stuff and the next generation will be unbelievable and will totally break our belief of what is possible when they become adults.

Yumeka is very close to her level, less consistent but she got a 9.4 doigg by a huge kick flip front feeble in SLS. Likewise young coco yoshizawa won a different contest doing big spins in and out of boardslide. Momiji has the best style by far but you also got to watch out for Funa, Yumeka and to some degree Aoi. To be honest they often post bangers on social media that they never try on contests. Momiji knows noseslide 360 heel out, landed it bolts on Instagram, Funa was doing Ollie late Backfoot flips up gaps on hers too. Aoi won a contest with a fat boned heel flip front boardslide on a big rail.

i think for tricks that other skaters haven't landed in competition, or doing something nobody else is doing that day, scores well for men and women.

That 50-50 flip out in a run was a 9 Club
@talk-supersix-seven60218 ай бұрын
They score them differently. Because before it was opposite and sls were giving 8.0 for fs 180 gap from Leticia. Then the new gen came in and some did men’s level tricks like Momiji big flip from board etc etc They were scoring women as same as men but it was really demoralising and kind of insulting to see the women do well and break history and then have to smile and celebrate for getting a 3.0 or 4.0 and go crazy because they got 5.5. I think them being rated on what the standards are for women’s skateboarding and what is NBD and the peak performance is much better. It’s more encouraging and less shaming. I mean if you see the WST you can see how in WST Rome last year how well the women did.
