2023 Subaru Impreza Premium Hatchback Review and 0-60! Better Value than Crosstrek Premium?

I purchased a 2023 Subaru Impreza after doing much online research. I previously owned a 2007 Subaru Outback that I loved and drove for 15 years but lost in an accident. I bought the base model Impreza by choice, I prefer fewer "bells and whistles" but so far really like my new car.

The premium trim doesn't have a lot of "bells and whistles". It has an upgraded suspension, slightly better stereo, and what I really wanted here in MN, heated seats and mirrors.

@@susansides5648 Yea its nice. I've always driven SUV's and it definitely is smaller but I don't feel claustrophobic or too cramped. I was looking for a used crosstrek, forester, or outback, but with the price of used cars it wasn't far off a new Impreza.

I have a 2019 base Impreza hatch. I like the car a lot, but the Premium is definitely worth the extra cost. Definitely regret that I did not move up to that trim.

I hate the info screens on the outback and that is what they are going to on the new impreza. I will either buy a used impreza or purchase one of the last 5th Gen.

I’m surprised Subaru didn’t put a leather wrapped steering wheel in the Impreza Premium like they did in the Crosstrek Premium. Gotta love Subaru’s quirkiness.

How are you still liking it? I picked up an 2021 Impreza sport hatchback in manual (5 speed). I like the 5 better in the inner city, but I can see the value of the 6 speed for medium to longer trips......🏹🤠👍

Test drove one here in Australia, loved how stable car felt on road but CVT drone was big let down. Ended up buying Kia Cerato GT ( Forte ) instead.

The 2024 base model is $1400 more than the equivalent 2023 and the only thing you get for it is those tilty headlights, over $3k more than bare bones base 2023. Sad.

Probably has a lot to do with that dreadful CVT. CVT would have added $1350 US to my 2023 Crosstrek Premium.

@@5610winston No, the $1400 difference includes the CVT and hatchback. The 2023 manual hatchback is something like $2700 or $2800 less then the base 2024 model, the 2023 manual sedan is $3200 less I think. I'm disappointed, but cant say I'm surprised. The 2023 base models are a ridiculous value for AWD in this segment.

@@Doc1855 thank you. The Outback 23 is so far the best looking for me. But if the new forester gets a better-looking facelift, then that might be a better option. Both of them actually are equally perfrroming perfectly. It's not that the forester's face is ugly, it's just not appealing to me..

Probably better than I would expect! I personally would be most concerned with it getting high centered, which likely wouldn’t happen on public streets compared to snow drifts on country roads or something! I’m sure you can google the most popular vehicles in those states if you need that information. 🙂

I'm just not sure which options are on it yet since I took the one already being delivered, I believe I have the convenience which is cool. Is the leather wrapped wheel an option on the premium or only the better models? And I heard you mention something about pay and the subaru app for remote start.. do you have to pay for that on the app separately? Appreciate the help if you have the answers.

I should say im also concerned about the ground clearance and the lack of X Drive as I love hiking and want to road trip, also live in NE. I'm just being paranoid right? lol, I figure it should be okay as long as I don't go crazy offroad.

I’m pretty sure your premium will have a leather wrapped wheel! I think only the base does not. With push button start I am assuming you can have remote start through the my Subaru app. I think on my Wilderness the deal was like $150 ish for 4 years of coverage. I wouldn’t worry about not having X-mode. I don’t go off roading but I’ve never used it in my 65,000 miles driving Subaru’s haha.

I didn't even put the Impreza in gear for a test drive. The seat was pleasant enough as the dealer had it set when I got in, but when I adjusted it to see out under the inside mirror, it was so low I couldn't get out without raising the seat. Don't know how many cycles of raising and lowering the ratchets will take. I ordered the Crosstrek Premium with manual.

The crosstrek has more ground clearance and towing capability. Therefore there's no reason to buy an impreza. unless you live in a desert, there's nowhere where SUV ground clearance isn't needed

It’s a good option and at a good price! But I agree, more ground clearance is always a plus. There’s a reason I drive a Wilderness with 9.5” lol.
