People who want it can invest in aftermarket I guess, those who aren’t bothered don’t need to and there’s no clutter. Maybe it’s a question of what do we really need to operate the car vs what we really want. Almost like Android vs Apple wars 😁

Nice video, pretty cool accessory considering the power information. Only concern would be battery degradation from the prolonged sun exposure. It would be nice if they included a cover/shade for the device to both shield it from the sun and increase screen visibility (also might help trick cameras into thinking it’s not a phone).

Nice one Tom, definitely one of the better optional screen systems I’ve seen reviewed to date. Just speculating, that HUD option, I reckon if you just place your phone under the front windshield at night it will act like a HUD, maybe give it a test?
@LudicrousFeed

Good suggestion Graeme with the HUD. I think it may be possibly distracting / obstructive having it projected onto the windscreen like that 🤔
@graememills7778

@@LudicrousFeed yes possibly, a proper HUD whilst not to dissimilar have the projection part in the dash so you only see the reflection, so it would have to be angled away from the driver I guess. Waze support would be ideal! I would already have bought Teslogic if they supported it. As it is, I may buy Teslogic anyway. But, I’m not in a hurry. Oddly, there IS alot of screen real estate and I wonder that they do not make the fonts a tad larger. I presume this is because young software engineers think the can see it perfectly well, so they stop when it looks fine to them. 😂. The LARGE font is way overkill, and does limit what can be shown on the screen. And, I’m sure there would be some superior ways of showing the dynamic information better, but that will take time to develop. Right now it’s a good product, and with a bit of customization, it could be great!

I’d been using my daily phone until now but I recently bought a separate Android phone to use for testing Android Auto for my car reviews so I’ll probably use that from now on. As long as your older iPhone has BT and can support the current version of the Teslogic app, it’ll work 👍

Can this display when the brake lights are activated? The small Tesla car is the screen menu has tiny brake lights that you cannot see unless you lean right in so they are useless in traffic. The app is significantly better than I would have assumed seeing most of the apps for this kind of thing, though I can't get over how bad it looks on a phone with a big notch out of the left side of the screen, I wonder how this would look on a small tablet. Seems like they should sell an option that bundles it with a cheap android device preconfigured too, as I know many people would prefer something pre set up, and that would let them pick the best hardware for the purpose.

Just wondering how easy it is to remove the phone when not driving, otherwise it may be a temptation for a thief. In other words, I wonder how long will the 3M sticky tape lasts if you constantly place and remove your phone. Also I guess, for convenience, you really would need another fairly new phone. An (expensive?) added cost. Other than those few concerns, yeah it seems like a neat thing to use.
@LudicrousFeed
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
The 3M tape is only used to stick the mount to the car and also from the MagSafe charger to the mount. The connection from your phone to the mount is via a magnet / MagSafe so it doesn’t wear out the 3M tape If you have an older device / non-MagSafe, you can use the included magnet / ring to stick to either your phone or have it behind your case It’s very easy to place/remove the phone from the MagSafe mount much like any other MagSafe mount on the market eg the Jowua product seen in the video next to the infotainment screen

Could you just use an older iPhone and leave it permanently? I'm sure everyone has at least one older model iPhone sitting in a draw! I also think if this costs what around $200, how much would it cost to add during production to provide a better user experience? I'm sure it would be a fraction of the cost. If I was already paying $70k-$80k for a car, spending an additional small amount for it to be factory fitted I would do it.
