Yep, these guys are good! They have taken what we were doing in the late 90's and have perfected it. Would like to see more pulls though. Love the power shots from the back!

I learned playing at the Billy Mitchel Boys Club back in the 70's and 80's. We use to have tournaments like this all the time.

The skill level especially at goalie was a lot better in the 70's.

I started watching these Foosball videos of modern day play and one thing that I keep seeing is that people just don't know how to properly defend a goal, whether singles or doubles. I did see one video where the guy was defending properly about 70% of the time, but then would switch and get hammered. That was a doubles event where Tony Sprederman was on Offense and his partner D'Moto was playing defense. I grew up in the days of TS (Tournament Soccer fame), and my specialty was goalie, and I am just not seeing the skill at goalie that we had in the late 70's.

I learned how to play Foosball in the 80's at a local arcade in Manistee Michigan. Myself and another local, (Dan Libbey), got to be the best at it, and we could have played pro. These guys are much better than we got with the pass from the 5 to 3 guy, but we could beat them at the goal. We invented so many more shots, and that "snake shot" is all these pro's do today. But, if you can't make the pass, you can't get the ball to make your shot. Later, in Grand Rapids Michigan, I played with a guy who was said to be 7th in the world in the late 70's I believe. His name was Bob Curtain (Kurtian?), with the nick name "The Bionic pull". He could make about 50% of his shots on me, and the same with me against him. But he was so much better at passing. We had fun doing different shots, making the other guy nervous, never knowing where you were going. I never got good at the snake shot,---but I didn't have to. Because we had different shots, the game was more exciting to watch, and play IMO. If I could get good at passing, at 60 years old now, with a couple months practice, I could hang with these guys. We were sneaky.

Also, serving was an art form too. I don't know why it was pulled from the game.

When I was passing from the 2 guy to the front. About 3" from a wall worked well for me.

The 5 is an upside-down 2
@gam3rman85 Жыл бұрын
or is the 2 an upside down 5??
@EarthSurferUSA Жыл бұрын
In singles, if you are shooting from the goal, you set your 5 and 3 guys sideways, (the heads are weighted so they stay there). If you had them all the way upside down, it was possible that your shot from the goal would leave the table a bit, and hit one in the head, messing up your own shot. Some of the older tables, (like the million dollar table), it was possible to hit the ball in a goal hard enough, and it would travel in the table, and out the the other goal opening.

We also tilted our goal guys toward each other. As long as you did not let a foot get too high for the ball to go under it, that allowed you to hold them wider, as tilting together made the hole in the center smaller.
