2023 Tracer 9 GT+ First Impressions: Tech Heaven Tourer!

I have a 2021 Tracer 9GT & I love it. The improvements for 2023/24 is a great step forward, but the screen is still the same torture device with horrible buffeting at speeds above 40mph. The seat that we're going to get in the US worries me, we might end up with the horrible Standard seat cushion that's too hard & tilted forward. The headlights need to be both on, I've driven at night & the single projector low beam is NOT enough. If Yamaha can fix these problems then this is just THE BEST....the GOAT of all GOATs in the Sport Touring bike sector. I love the ride, the handling, the engine & the fuel economy.. The closest rivals cost more, deliver less & of all the competitors I test drove before buying my Tracer NONE had me wanting to jump back on them, save for some really expensive examples (eg the very spendy Versys 1000SE LT+)

I think anyone with common sense would know that this size motor and this cost range that bar and peg vibes isn’t something ANY bike has. But ok.

Hi Alex. I have a Tracer 7gt but I'm very much thinking of upgrading to the Yamaha Tracer 9GT plus or a BMW 1250 GS. Can I ask, how would you compare the T9gt+ with the BMW 1250 gs? and what would you rate as the better bike?

IMO don't get the GS1250. Why? You'll pay A LOT for features you'll never use because you're almost certainly never going to take it off road & down trails. Imagine buying a Tracer 9GT & A Kawasaki KLR650, which would add up to about how much you'd pay for just a GS1250, & NEVER riding the KLR650 on back country trails! People would say "You're mad....why did you waste your money?" & yet that's what GS1250 riders are doing.....not that a GS1250 is all that capable off road, anyway, because heaven help you if you drop it on a steep, boulder strewn track....& you WILL drop it....& if there's 2 of you then yes, you could pick it up, again, but then you're faced with the bill to repair the damage. So, unless you want to take your GS1250 off road & are prepared to put up with the huge weight & spendy repairs, then stick with a Sport Tourer like the T9GT.
