Prediction: Patchwork! Maybe it's just me, but I'm really digging patchwork clothes. Not really small patches sewn together, but big patches, so the item is made out of just a few different fabrics, rather than a lot of different small patches sewn together. And like, maybe crazy quilt style embroidery stitching on top? Probably not, but that'd be great.

I don't know how relevant the show Next in Fashion is, but the winner this last season did a ton of patchwork! I think it reflects a lot of people's desire to see less polished, more casual-feeling clothes after so many years of aesthetics and clean girl and various perfectionism-driven looks

I'd love to see more consideration for textiles as a whole. Like, I see more and more people talking about why they'd prefer a cotton over a polyester, not only from a sustainability perspective but also because of what it actually *feels* like to be sweaty and uncomfortable in a 100% polyester item and why another material might be preferable for a certain application. I don't know if that makes sense, but spreading practical textile knowledge in general would be amazing!

I am definitely a character dresser, going by what I feel like that day. I buy clothes at the thrift store and redo them, refashioning them into clothes that are more fun than they were. My friends love it--we are all over 70 yrs old and finally being the fun people we were never allowed to be when we were younger! Love your videos!

for 2024 I want more fun fashion trends for men(tm). I want more than jus "oh baggy jeans and a white shirt" I want what all the other fun girlies get to do. Layering, clashing patterns, skirts, fun accessories like bows. I kno as a guy any guy can wear these kinda things but I jus wish guys got more excited about trends and dressing super unique. Yes! and Yes! I'd love to see more visible mending/reuse/upcycling! I am visibly mending my clothes, learning about various methods and replacing boring buttons with gems from my dear Mother's and Grandmother's button boxes!

I did find that the colour season stuff somewhat helpful as a point of inspiration and encouragement to explore shades I wouldn't normally be drawn to. I took a quiz out of curiousity and used the results to try on some different stuff at thrift store. I discovered that I really enjoy wearing coral, teal, and muted pinks, which I hadn't previously considered "my colours". So I think it's kind of a net positive if its used for inspiration rather than as a rule to be obeyed.

Trends: maybe Garfield trend since there’s a movie coming out in 2024, maybe crazy amount of pins and brochures are going to be big since the charmed necklace was a trend and people like to customize their stuff. I feel like since it’s an election year in the US and the economy isn’t doing well I think happy bright colors are out and more dark gloomy colors are going to be popular and classy preppy chic is going to be turn more rebellious and less perfect more messy.

This past year I got REALLY into sewing, and have gotten interested as a result in customizing clothing. I used fabric markers and dye-na-flow to draw a bunch of ghost foxes on a dress I made because it was blank fabric. I made like four of the same pattern because I loved wearing it. I thrifted a ton of fabric to use for sewing! I’d love to see people do irreverent stuff with their clothes in 2024. Applique of a cheeky nature? Sure! Weird color combinations? Yes please. Also I thrifted two long full skirts this year that I LOVED wearing despite being asked if I was Pentacostal when I wore it. I’d also like to see people going for natural fabrics so I can maybe find some when I absolutely have to shop retail for something.

I read @vivthemole's trend prediction and really jived with her idea of how the bow will evolve - she posited that we will lean into a more masc trend and the motif that we can see the bow turn into is knots, nautical and cool ropey things! I also have been seeing a lot of betty boop recently... methinks she might be a big character this year 👀

My most wanted aesthetic my entire life (born in 88) has been Whimsigoth 😍 Nothing has ever come close to how much I absolutely ADORE whimsigoth style and clothes. As a chubby 90s kid nothing of that aesthetic fit me when it first became popular, but now, with plus size options online catering to my aspired aesthetic, I can FINALLY dress the way I've always wanted to 😍 its so awesome! The thing about novelty items is exactly the ~novelty~ element of it all. The "omg this is so crazy and weird" that make people go either "I want it" or "ew, I hate it". I don't think there was a single year in modern clothing history without some "it" novelty item of the moment. So yeah, of course you were right about it. It's pretty safe to say that there will be a new novelty item in 2024 as well. Maybe as long as humans will continue to wear clothes.

i have a theory that what is pushing the trend cycle or microtrend cycle along is what some cool people are finding cheap in the back of thrift stores and second hand shops and are styling it in such a way that people take notice and it brings it back. Like with the boxer shorts and some of the blokette aesthetic, ties, wrestling boots, cargo trousers, the small glasses and things like indie sleaze and the mall goth aesthetic you mentioned. Unfortunately for my older millennial self that means next up will probably be bubble hems, peplums and satin everything.

You're right - No one should be restricted to any color palette or get rid of the clothes they have! HOWEVER, 😁 The theory behind the "trend" is real, and it is nice to know which colors really enhance your look or understand why you never could wear black, for instance. That's why color seasons have been around since the 1980's (maybe before). The problem isn't the color knowledge, it's getting neurotic-tok over it 🤣 (I made that up).

One girl mentioned it but I think polka dot and cute patterns (animal print too) are going to come back for sure (did they ever leave?). Suspenders maybe. Also colorful basics. I'd say lycra might show up too. And it's been a long time since we last heard of skinny jeans, right? I predict perhaps a more straight shaped figure for women and maybe a turn in masculine clothing for men. Maybe a twist again, like the pearly earrings and necklaces. Who knows!

Thank you for reminding me to get my wa-wa. I'm still stuck on 2012-2014 tumblr and that probably will never change as it was the aesthetic kind of thing of how I wanted to dress in high school, but couldn't quite make it work and when it was actually going on, I was working a job with a uniform/dress code (although I rarely wore it, woot woot nightshift freedoms!) and also didn't feel thin enough to wear the style, oh how brainwashed I was. Honestly, I just like people being happy in what they're wearing, and if it happens to be more sustainable then huzzah! I'm doing a low buy/no buy year and I have so many things that need just a little TLC/DIY and just rare materials, that I plan on trying to make more of my clothes this year. Can't wait to see next weeks video!

I've been thinking about this a lot since first watching your video a couple days ago...I realized first that I'd love to see more trends that support what I'm already wearing 😅 -- but also, that I care less about following trends than before. The post pandemic trends of cottagecore and "comfortcore" led me to create a wardrobe of boho/cottagecore dresses, soft leggings/bike shorts, and comfy oversized flannels, tees, sweatshirts, etc. I've started joking with people that I have two modes of dressing....wannabe literary heroine or feral child. 😂 and comfortable, always comfortable. Now that trends are leaning away from prairie dresses and threatening me with denim again...I've realized I just don't care enough/have the money or deisre to change my wardrobe into something that I'm uncomfortable in, either physically or emotionally.

I think we saw the monogrammed item becoming a bit of a trend towards the end of last year, so I reckon we might see more of that custom element in preppy styling or perhaps a specific personal icon (like Steven Universe's star or Scott Pilgrim's X) being added to items? I'm honestly a bit downcast about all the corpcore and minimalist stuff coming back around as it can feel very plain and conservative so adding a bit of your own personalisation could be a way to combine novelty and this trend.

Idk if this is fashion trend perse but whenever someone recieves a compliment on something, the response not being "i got it from x" and also when giving compliments not asking "where did you get it from?". Like knowing where someone got smth from should not be the point of a compliment. I'm going to try when someone else compliments me to say "ty, i like this/wore this today bc x" and when giving compliments a) NOT ask ppl where they got it from and b) structure the compliment like "oh thats really cute bc x thing i noticed about your style" idk complimenting to appreciate not replicate ig

Yay! That was the video that brought me to you. ☺ I was HOOKED. My brain is so overwhelmed with all the different intersections of fashion/style that I can't fathom predicting anything. lol BUT I would love to see less polyester and more sustainable fabrics being utilized and better construction since thrifting isn't accessible for everyone (ie. needing a really specific tailor of pants and not having time/energy to search every store every day to find it). I also want to see more cute motifs, not sure exactly what this could be, but whatever the next iteration of bows or 3D flowers are. Oh and more patterns! I feel like I never come across very interesting patterns, it's always very same same or so many solids, I wish more brands got creative and did stuff more like Farm Rio, Liberty London and the Pangea x Sezane collection.

I love glasses trends so I like that you mentioned the tiny round silver glasses! Also the tiny silver ones and especially the rimless ones are less visible on your face, just like you said playing around with transparency/sheer on the face! This past year i learned that i LOVE skirts with tights, esp long skirts bc they are so fun and swishy!! So id love to see more of those in 2024!! Im definitely bringing my mary janes into the new year as well! Id love to see bright colored tights and tights with shorts. And ive just gotta say, i rlly enjoy you wishing folks to dress however makes them happy :) i feel like that is a central theme to a lot of your videos and its been a big help in giving me the courage to explore what i want our of my own style!! Definitely more character dressing!! The idea of casual cosplay is so fun and as someone who’s cosplay items often make it into my normal wardrobe and expands my style I appreciate the creativity it gives people and license to be a little more out there than they might otherwise. I think with both the next dune movie and that max mad prequel as well as the fallout show coming out (and global warming / the planet being on fire) we might see an uptick in desert sci fi dystopian inspired sorta mars-core clothing. Not sure if people will really lean into the beige/orange/brown color scheme but definitely flowy shapes yet punk inspired, and purposely distressed materials. Then my guess for the next little object to get popular after bows is buttons, especially with the trend of making your own clothing and cozy vibes, but that might just be me loving goblin/clutter core maximalism and wanting everyone to feed their inner magpie. In terms of my own clothing journey I dyed my hair for a Harley Quinn cosplay early on so spent the first part of the year leaning into more neon / bright colors to go with the bright pink and blue, which was fun since jewel tones are my comfort zone (though also fell in love with my witchy goth clothes all over as they contrasted with my hair well too!). Also for Harley I replaced one of the laces on my main boots with a pink ribbon and then just kinda kept it, i got a lot of compliments and conversations out of it!

Preppy is going to be big again in 2024: polo shirts, polo dresses, blazers, tweed, button downs, chore coats, denim shirts, crew necks, lady like dresses, vintage brands like Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, J Crew. Personally, I am having a lot of fun mashing up preppy with lots of other styles and cores: preppy grunge, boho preppy, blokette prep, officecore prep, thrift store prom dress prep, clown prep . . .it goes ON.

The character dressing reminds me of Confessions of a teenage drama queen. After I watched that I had theme days like all black and white. For the coming year I'm going to predict 2000s inspired athletic wear including skorts. Think minimalist streamlined tennis skirt and Adidas stripes on everything.

I feel like in the spring/summer we'll see a combo of corp and gorp core aesthetics, i.e. office-to-hike as the new day-to-night. My predictions/hopes and dreams: more attention to fabric content (i.e. natural fibers over artificial) - as an evolution of “quiet luxury” mixed with sustainable fashion. Side parts and side bangs. Victorian under clothing as clothing, think longer white ruffly bloomers and petticoats. I know some people are doing these things already but maybe they’ll become more widespread.

I'm thinking oversized stuff will be big this year, and not just big hoodies but more chunky oversized knits, layering with big-on-top, big-on-bottom outfits, balloon-type blouses and full skirts. Maybe it's just a personal style evolution but I've been leaning more into this type of fit as a way to rebel against norms for societally "attractive" aka figure-hugging outfits for femme-presenting people. I'm thinking we'll be seeing more of the bright cobalt blue and also a real vivid crayon green. Most of all I just hope people wear what makes them happy!

I have this feeling that bodysuits are going to come back- they were common in 2016 or so for wearing under high waist mom jeans, but I think we'll see more exploration with the body suit to create shape (shoulder pads? cut outs?) and used for more low-rise and mid-rise bottoms.

I discovered a sewer who was coming up with designs for adjustable-sized wrap skirts AND dresses. This is a concept possibility that has been percolating in the back of my brain for a few years now, so this might usher in a craze in multi-adjustable patterns in clothing. Or at least inspire me to finally try it.

I think Mean Girl looks from the original movie will be huge with the new movie and black and white striped with lime green and purple with Beetlejuice 2. I definitely think Steamboat Willy Mikey Mouse graphics, and maybe black and white retro vibes? I think strawberries and mushrooms will continue to be popular. I think we’ll see Garfield more and maybe early 00’s Nickelodeon cartoon characters like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Doug era. I’m also seeing a lot of peoples resolutions to decrease spending. So I think early 90’s thrift but carefully edited customized and tailored. I could also see lots patterns like camo, dalmation, cheetah, cow and flame motifs and textures like faux fur ya know things that Gen Z wore when they were little.

As for 2024 character picks I think the Sonny Angel will still be very popular amongst the girlies. Towards the end of 2023 they were all over my feed, and I think that will continue. These vids are always so fun- really obsessed with the silky top you were wearing in this one! My prediction is that people will start wearing big chunky keychains of Tamagotchis, Polly Pockets or other small vintage toys on their bags. Also that toolboxes/lunchboxes/stiff boxy purses will become accessories that unseat tiny purses and clutches (just because I want this to happen).
