They definitely are measuring to a different length or setting up the signs to a different spot. Many made it over the 500ft and 600ft line, and came up 20-30ft shorter. It’s annoying for us, but at least they did it consistently.

If you look at Sai Anandas first throws 4:45 especially you can see that throw land behind the 400 board You can eyeball distances by using disc width, that is not 14 feet from the 400 line if that line is accurate You can see the guy range using the rangefinder at 5:52. He is using pretty closely the same spot they throw from, so the most likely and simplest explanation is that the rangefinder isn't calibrated and it's off by like 10 feet for everyone

Wiggins is an incredible distance thrower and would have the record no matter what. But I believe, like records in track and field, the record should not be wind aided. Ten miles per hour or so maximum. I think the less wind, the less advantage from throw to throw. It would be impractical to eliminate air currents completely. I’m sure there are different perspectives on this-would absolutely want to hear them :)

All the rangefinder readings were consistently shorter than the marked boards. So I'm guessing the boards were marked wrong or from a different spot than they ended up measuring from. Could of course be the rangefinder was giving short readings for some reason. But either way, from what we could see it was consistent so yeah, I think we should trust the results at least. Waiting for Disc Golf to grow big enough so they can hold distance competitions in a 1 mile long indoor facility with no wind. Then at least we'll have a fair competition to see who actually throws the furthest.

Hi Jomez, could you arrange an elevated basket US Championship? Just stick a disc golf basket to a large crane. Start at the normal elevated height, then raise it with, let say 10 feet at a time. 3 tries per height, if you make one height you continue to the next height. Same rules as track and field high jump.

@awyoung7069 ай бұрын
Well if you're going to do a record for the furthest a human has thrown anything on flat ground, you need the conditions to be as close to perfect as possible. Make no mistake Wiggins is, and has been, the furthest thrower in the world for a ridiculous amount of time, if he were put up against anyone else in any wind condition. AB is really the first guy who is starting to really compete with him in terms of max potential distance. But even AB says Wiggins still throws further than him.
