2023 Volvo S60 Recharge - DM Review

For 2023, I think there are only a handful of manufacturers that still qualify for the US tax credits and Volvo unfortunately is not one of them. What a great car though, and excellent review as always!

The Volvo S60 is made in South Carolina and does. Most people lease to get the $7,500 + other lease incentives off, and then just turn around and buy it out immediately if they want to finance at a much lower price.

You guys make some of the best S60 reviews out there and I've seen a lot because I'm interested to buy an S60 (probably a mild hybrid version, in Europe, Recharge it's much more expensive). Great doing these reviews! I really enjoyed all of them.

I love the S60, but why on Earth do car manufacturers insist on using this piano black plastic right where all the touch points are?!?! I mean...ca mon already..stop it!!! No one wants it, and just like it was stated early in the video will look terrible in no time. Just looking at that stuff will scratch it.

volvo is currently being sunk by their switch to android operating system for the infotainment. updates brick cars. needs rebooting. dodgy wireless car play. needs rebooting. too much touch function. janky. I hope they get it right

Well when I bought my 2022.5 S60 recharge it qualifies for the full 7500 tax credit. So it basically made it a wash with the gas version. Easy choice.

@@mharro88 Sure and not just any hybrid. Only plug in hybrids qualify, and they have to have a minimum battery size. And it was changed in August of 2022 so that the car had to be manufactured in the North America or an approved trading partner (basically didn’t want cars made in places like China to qualify). And as of 2023 there were battery sourcing and MSRP limits imposed. The Volvo S60 Recharge hit the sweet spot as it is made in South Carolina and the bigger battery introduced in mid 2022 (the model I bought) qualified for the full tax credit. However today because of the MSRP limits only the low to mid trims would qualify as the highest trims exceed the MSRP limit. Fortunately I was able to get a fully loaded one with the top trim and Bowers and Wilkins last September before the MSRP limit took effect in 2023. But as far as this versus the regular gas version. The T8 is FAR superior. Way smoother, far more power at the ready. Even if you keep it in pure electric mode I find I’m able to get up to highway speeds pretty much as fast as the Audi A4 I traded it in for. And if I put it in Power mode and engage both engines fully, it’s no contest. 0-60 in 4.2 or so. Also in the long run you are paying less in gas costs even if you don’t get a tax credit.

Really don't understand the "aah Volvo steering." Completely numb, dead, Honda Accord grade steering feel is now worth $60K+ for some reason? I guess it's better than anything Japan has (big heavy and slow TLX Type S, horrendous mess that is the Q50, and older than dirt Lexus IS) but against a new C-class, you're really going to buy this thing? Really?

Sure. Cross shopped mine with last gen C class and it wasn't even close. The A5 was my second choice but $10K more for similar equipment and ultimately the S60 is more visually interesting. Now if I could have swung an E-Class we might be having a different chat. No matter what I hope you are fortunate enough to drive whatever makes you happy. If that's a C then rock on. Take it easy.

Dream car (or a v60 anyways). I recently stopped by a Volvo dealer in Minneapolis and they had a white s60, brand new, on the lot. Nothing special till I checked the sticker and saw the power numbers. Total sleepers!!! Volvo is seriously killing it nowadays. Glad you guys got to have one!

I was in the market for an Audi A5, BMW 330i or The Volvo S60 Regular engine. I feel the BMW 330i was trying to be sporty. I wanted something that wasn’t trying to be sporty. I wanted something refined, elegant but simply at the same time. The Volvo S60 did that for me. Harmon kardon sounds pretty good to me and the seats are the best. You can definitely feel that it’s real leather.

I've got a 2022 S60 B5 R-Design. I went through the EXACT same process right down to the "A4/A5 or 3-series or S60 (also looked at G70)" process. Same exact conclusions. The seats are literally the best I've ever experienced in a car. I would have spent the extra for the B&W but couldn't find my vehicle+trim+color combination with it anywhere accessible at the time. The HK is still one of the best car stereos I've experienced so no huge downside. Plus bought it trimmed out with every other option for $46K out the door. So....no complaints from this kid. Thunder Grey all the way. Take care. Enjoy your S60. Personally, and I'm totally not biased AT ALL, I think you made a great decision.

@@MrSocktown I got a 2023 s60 plus in the Same thunder grey the window sticker on it was 52k. Same price as the BMW I was looking at the same day, but the S60 felt different and yeah the seats are amazing. I think when I use wired CarPlay the Audio is even nicer.

@@MrSocktown I’m coming from a Mazda 6 carbon edition and the quality of the S60 interior is night and day difference. Even the engine bay layout is higher quality

@@dellville720g6 Agree completely. It's funny that you came from a Mazda. Our other 2 family vehicles are a CX-30 and CX-50. They are both great vehicles. But the Volvo is better. 🤘

@@MrSocktown when I got the Mazda I was shocked on how well the interior felt for the price, but I hated the way the transmission wasn’t smooth in shifting.

The complications with the engine make it a very unreliable vehicle... LOL
