Until you look at the structure. The outside of the sleeper looks the same but the structure of it is different. Hence why it has squares pressed in the back in stead of triangles like the Freightliner have. But let me guess. You're only looking at the outside of one part and boom. Conclusion pulled. Without looking at anything else. Or caring at all.

I was going to buy a 49x, the service writer and service manager at the dealership talked me out of it. They said they are electronic nightmares, they would have it in the shop more than id be running down the road. That freightliner is a far cry from my 18 4900EX

So far, knock on wood, I haven’t had any electronic issues that needed to be addressed in the shop, I did have a wiring problem at first but that got taken care of while it was still under warranty and haven’t had problems with since then, but all trucks have their problems come sooner or later

You can see the Cascadia in that star. Well I'm happy I don't drive truck anymore. Every Cascadia I drove was a disappointment. I was happier in the Lonestar. I owned a Volvo 730, hands down the best truck I have driven. I can't stand the small cabs of the good Paccar trucks, an absolutely despise the new generation paccar junk. I liked the 2700/4900 Stars, I have driven many tri-axle 4900s and a few tractors too. Gone are the great days of Western Star

It’s actually a pretty smooth running truck, don’t know if it’s because it has the 240 inch wheelbase instead of the 235 inch but it is actually pretty smooth

Price was still a little on the lower side when I ordered the truck, $165,000, don’t know what it would sell for now, I saw people trying to sell theirs for around $250,000, don’t know if they got that though, log books is now ELD, I use a iPad

no, The sleepers are not the exact same as they're build on a different structure. And no, The dash isn't 100% the same either. It's far from a Cascadia if you do some research

@@The_One_Over_There I drive a 2022 cascadia and there built on the same platform you can interchange the doors the dash pretty much all of it.hell there both built by Daimler. Safes them money on production cost.

the dash isn't the same either though. The one in the Western Star is more squared off compared to the Cascadia. Just because they're both from Daimler doesn't automatically mean all that much since their still designed by 2 different groups of people. Next to that, If you can interchange the dash, Than why would one have a more squared off dash where the other is more rounded. And if you can interchange the doors, Than why has the Cascadia a bump near the bottom of it on the front. While the ones on the 49x are flat. You haven't even looked and compared properly from the looks of it. You just jump to conclusions and call it the day. I'd say that since you claim to drive a Cascadia, You'd know the differences between the two. Specially with the doors and dash.

and besides that, If the sleepers are the same than explain 1 thing to me. Cascadia has 4 triangles and 2 squares pressed on the back. 49X has only squares at the bottom with 2 triangles at the top. Only the top part is the same as the Cascadia. Not the whole thing. why is that then.

If I ever had to take a "aero" truck it would be one like this. Stretch it out to add a third axle and put a tri-axle Conestoga behind it and you got you a nice little money maker

Where is the clutch pedal? I see a drive information center. Does this truck have disc brakes? A lot of the new trucks are coming with disc brakes and they can last up to 500.000 miles before changing the pads

The dash and computer display/sub-menu's are IDENTICAL to my 2021 Cascadia. Also, the ENTIRE interior space is IDENTICAL to the 2021 Cascadia. Hmmm....The shelf in my truck, however, does pull out.

Hey bud I just came across your channel because I just purchased a brand new 2023 Western star truck like yours. I have the mid roof and not the ultra. I did get the DD 16 with 600 hp. I was just wondering how you have liked it and if there are any issues that I might need to be aware of.

Well so far I love it, issues I’ve had so far is the exhaust manifold center section needed to be replaced, the way they ran the wires for the DEF leveler sensor was screwed up so the mechanic redid that cause my DEF gauge was acting all screwy and that could have de-rated the truck, one night I went to start the truck and wipers started acting weird, truck would not turn over and the message board lit up saying stock switch right error, if that happens just shut off your battery switch for 5 minutes and turn back on, that should fix that, was leaking coolant, but that ended up just being a loose clamp, so I tightened that, and if you get a light with a back of trailer with squiggly lines under it, that is just your stability control sensor, next time you shut the truck off and turn it back on that will go away, lol, kinda a lot for a truck that now has only 27,000 miles on it, I guess just getting rid of the new truck gremlins, but other then that I love it lol 😂, let me know if you have any problems with your new truck

I think we are stuck keeping our million mile T680 a little longer.

Don't think u can control an automatic loaded down a steep hill like u do a manual, think ull use too much brakes and the truck power will keep forcing the truck down hill. Best to stick to manual

Nah I drove an 8 axle flatbed with the DT12 automatic grossed 105,000 pounds it does just fine down hills I took it down white bird pass in Idaho and every other pass in the west. I’ve also pulled an overbilt scrap baler which weighed 130,000 pounds minus the truck with an Eaton fuller automatic in a KW it worked great even down santiam pass in Oregon
