“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds. He forgives all your sins and heals all your infirmities.” (Ps. 103: 2-3)
Meditation:
If we always remembered all the innumerable good things which God gives us, who are unworthy, there would be no room in us for complaint and discontent. But we are too prone to remember only the difficult things from the past and often, enumerating all the woes and tribulations of our lives, we forget to compare all the many instances when we felt the clear and tangible effects of the mercy and help of the Lord.
What ingratitude towards our Heavenly Father, and what a lack of faith we show in this! What would we say if, despite the many services we provided to our friend, he still looked at us with distrust, and doubted our friendship? We, of course, would resent such an attitude. And how much more do we sin against the Lord when, having already experienced many times His generous help and long-suffering, we still doubt that our prayer will be heard, and await our fate with fear!
This is not what the Lord expects of us, and He cannot be pleased with such a spirit. How much better it would be if we, being constantly aware of our unworthiness, would keep in our heart the grateful memory of all the examples of mercy towards us from our Savior, and would be prepared without complaint to give him everything that He might ask of Us.
Can our love for the Lord still be so imperfect that when the hour arrives to submit to His holy will, we will hesitate to repeat, with complete submission, Job’s words: “The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken, may the name of the Lord be blessed!” (Job 1: 21)

День за днем. 29 июля (11 августа)
«Благослови, душа моя, Господа, и не забывай всех благодеяний Его. Он прощает все беззакония твои, исцеляет все недуги твои» (Пс. 102:2-3)
Если бы мы всегда помнили все бесчисленные благодеяния Господа к нам, недостойным, в нас не осталось бы и места для ропота и недовольства. Но мы слишком склонны помнить из прошлого одно только тяжелое. И часто, перечисляя все горести и невзгоды нашей жизни, мы забываем сопоставлять им те многие случаи, когда мы испытали на себе явное и ощутительное действие милосердия и помощи Господа.
Какая же неблагодарность к нашему Отцу Небесному и какое маловерие выказываются в нас при этом! Что бы сказали мы, если бы, несмотря на многочисленные услуги, оказанные нами нашему другу, он бы все-таки смотрел на нас с недоверием и сомневался бы в нашей дружбе? Мы бы, конечно, были возмущены таким отношением. Насколько же более грешим мы против Господа, когда, испытав уже неоднократно Его щедрую помощь и долготерпение, мы все еще сомневаемся в том, что наша молитва будет услышана, и со страхом ожидаем нашу судьбу!
Не этого ожидает от нас Господь, и такой дух сомнения не может быть Ему угоден. Сколь же лучше было бы, если бы мы, постоянно сознавая свое недостоинство, хранили в сердце благодарную память о стольких доказательствах милосердия к нам нашего Спасителя и готовы были бы безропотно отдать Ему все, чего бы Он ни потребовал от нас.
Неужели же наша любовь к Господу еще так несовершенна, что, когда настанет час покориться Его святой воле, мы поколеблемся с полною покорностью повторить слова Иова: «Господь дал, Господь и взял, да будет имя Господне благословенно!» (Иов. 1:21).
