@ Good morning Colin, hope you had a fun Halloween last night. During the intro of this one there is an Eventide pitch shifter doing some high frequency twinkle sounds, and I am now noticing how these high frequencies don’t play back as clearly on various listenback devices. As well, some of my low volume mix decisions disappear for some listeners who don’t hear the guitar at all. But seeing as you often use the 770 Pro headphones, same as I do, I’m sure you heard it all. I really appreciate your support and kind words. I just upgraded my iPhone to a 14 and it doesn’t output as loud as my 12. But hopefully this will help me make music that translates as most listeners would hear it.

@@jimshomestudio Hey Jim! It was a really quiet Halloween here this year. We didn't get a single knock at the door. But things vary a lot year by year here as the tendency if for all the families with kids to go around as a huge group concentrating on one neighborhood, with just a few that stay within their own street only. There are a lot less young kids in our street at the moment. combined with the fact it was raining last night and it wasn't too surprising we didn't get anyone at the door this year. We have had years where there has been none, and other years where we have had 50 or more. Your music always sounds pristine to me Jim. The fact we use the same headphones has to be a factor for sure. I decided a long time ago to make music for myself and to create it so it sounds good on my headphones. If I listen on our TV through a Bose sound bar there is always something missing, I have just learned to accept that. As far as other people listening, my thought is that if something is missing on a particular playback device then the person listening won't miss it as they wouldn't know it was supposed to be there in the first place. Obviously it would be a problem if it was a song with vocals and the vocal got lost in the mix, but I never add a vocal track.

@ Hurricane Milton crossed our area, we had zero damage. No flooding and our trees are mostly Palms that do very well in high winds. But all the Oak trees were torn to pieces, sometimes the entire tree was uprooted. Even the large trunks that are three feet in diameter. Pine trees as well. The first week of cleanup, most of the debris is piled near the streets edge, and the County suggests a 90 day window for removal. The landfill is overloaded and time is needed to process the daily intake. So our neighborhood still has a lot of piles, where as some others have had pickup service. The cleaner neighborhoods probably got more kids. Wife and her two girlfriends make it an annual get together, so they were out front welcoming all the children again this year. Yard was decorated (and clean). But yes, most of the kids we knew when ours were young are now all grown ups. Where does the time go? 15 years went by so fast. ☮️❤️😊

In my spare time I strive to become a better cook. We upgraded our kitchen appliances and got a decent grill last year so it now comes down to the ingredients and the skills to be creative. A lot less dining out, and I’m able to source better ingredients the more I shop around. Brother recommended a local butcher, which can be considerably more expensive than the grocery store, but the price reflects a significant quality improvement. Beef tenderloins are not found at our grocery store, so the butcher provided 1lb of the tip of the tenderloin. Grilled them about 4 minutes per side at 600 and they were melt in your mouth delicious. Best steaks we have EVER had! My blackened shrimp game is really improving too! Crispy on the outside, high heat. Binge watching a cooking show, Masterchef Professionals UK, where every chef is an actual professional on Tubi. So I asked my butcher for Duck Breast, and that’s no problem for them. Excited! I started out young, making cookies for Christmas with my Sister, so baking is one of my joys. The Cheesecake recipe I do was refined and now I just need to work on my caramel sauce. I think my fruit compotes are top notch. So we chase down the fresh ingredients and try not to overbuy, because they don’t stay fresh for long. A game of using what is priority, making sure the results are worth the effort. Soufflé, I don’t know what intrigues me about them, but the British chefs have their own style and that’s why I watch. To learn how to make great sauces, unique dishes. Wife rarely cooks these days! I wanted to have a great lead guitar solo over the end of this song and wanted to send it your way, but after a day of listening I just resolved into saying it’s concluded as is. Hope these holidays are well for you, and yours Chad. Keep rocking! 💪

@jimshomestudio Ah, truly a gentleman of many interests! I definitely enjoy cooking as well, but I haven't quite taken it to the extent you have. I was the oldest growing up so my mom taught me how to cook simple things for my siblings while she was at work. It eventually evolved into me cooking for myself because I love to eat. 😆 These days I have a few dishes up my sleeve that I like to make to keep the girlfriend thinking she chose wisely. Both her and my son rave about my fried rice 😁 I can tell that you approach cooking in similar detail to recording. Both activities are about creativity and attention to detail, so it makes sense. I'm here to say with my definitive opinion that your attention to detail when it comes to recording has definitely paid off. I'm sure it would be a worthwhile experience to record in your studio. I imagine one might say the same about your cooking. Enjoy your duck!
