Boston had no business standing their ground against Florida but I believe Sweeney addressed the need for more grit (Zadorov) and offensive production (Lindholm). At the very least they're a playoff team, I believe. I wouldn't put Boston as a strong contender, but if you at least make the playoff things can happen, and the additions should hopefully make them better. Still think they're in need of a high-end center and winger. But nothing to really be done for that this year. At best Poitras and Lysell show you something, and they can become impact players going forward.

Well, if Sway asks for 8 and not 10 its a bit different. Barry locked down Saros at 7.74/8. Juuse is a more proven goalie than Sway. Personally I think Saros got at least .74 too much, but there are arguments for saying he has been underpaid till now, and hes been a very loyal soldier to the franchise. I’d say Boston have to accept that cap has been raised. 6 and some is on the verge of lowballing a goalie that looks to be up there with the elite. I think they have to accept to overpay him some, In the range of 7-7.5/8. No goalie is worth 10 with all their injuries, not even Price or Vaz. 8+ when youre still somewhat unproven is too much

The same way everyone says this is the year they make the playoffs for Buffalo and Ottawa, they say this year is the year Boston sees a huge decline and misses the playoffs, but I see them making the second season again and probably knocking off the Leafs in the first round because traditions are important. It'll be interesting to see how the Canucks-Bruins free agency "trade" looks this season. The way the goaltending situation is shaping up, I wouldn't be surprised if Boston loses Swayman to free agency and signs Ullmark in the offseason.

@HHSGDFootballJPD2 ай бұрын
At $8 million dollars, a team that successfully offer-sheet's the Bruins will also give up a boatload of 1st and 2nd round picks for the next 3 or 4 years (and they have to be original to the team, not acquired from a trade). Which only means about seven teams have the opportunity to do it. I don't know how many of the 7 also can't squeeze the contract under the cap. But I'm also surprised Buffalo & Detroit didn't take a swing at him, among other teams.

The definition of a successful season for this team is simple. ECF or bust. Simply making the playoffs isn’t good enough for this team anymore. They need to go on a deep playoff run this year to show that 2019 wasn’t a fluke. If the Bruins fail to reach the ECF under any circumstance (I don’t care if they play Florida round 1) then Don Sweeney needs to be fired.
