The weather in Chengdu has been either very hot or rainy recently. These past few months haven't been the best season to visit the pandas. I'll go more often when the weather cools down. What a coincidence that day, there was good news about Meng Meng from the Berlin Zoo.

@xixixiang Yes, it looks promising with Meng Meng! I'm looking forward to it, I think it's still a bit early to be 100% sure. Fingers crossed 🤞 😍 I wish you a nice summer!

@@user-sol117 I think so too, but since the Berlin Zoo has released this news, they probably think the possibility is high. However, there is a saying in China that this time they didn't use Jiao Qing's sperm because pit’s epilepsy might be inherited from Jiao Qing.

@xixixiang Really? I didn't know that! I mean, the zoo didn't announce this, they announced that both pandas were anaesthetized for the insemination. How do they know that Pit's epilepsy is inherited from Jiao Qing, does it run in his bloodline? Several years ago the vets in Berlin found out that one of Jiao Qing's kidneys is smaller than the other one, but he doesn't seem to have problems with that, but Jiao Qing doesn't have epileptic seizures.

@@user-sol117 This is a saying in China, and the reason they deduced this is indeed because of Jiaqing's kidney problem and Pit's asthma. However, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding has not provided an official explanation. Even the news about past artificial insemination in Berlin and the possibility of Meng Meng being pregnant this time were announced by Berlin Zoo. Many extreme panda fans in China strongly oppose panda artificial insemination, and there have been discussions about both of these occurrences. Some explanations suggest that one reason for artificial insemination might be due to Jiaqing's possibly inferior genes; the previous cub had epilepsy, and this time the sperm used was not from Jiaqing. Since I couldn't find any scientific basis for these messages domestically, I wanted to ask you if there's any news from Berlin Zoo regarding this.
