Hello and welcome to our first edition of Press Perspective a daily panel session with members of the press as well as pundits on issues of interest largely pertaining to South Korea and its surrounding region.
Today that is Monday October 7th we touch upon the Yoon administration's latest diplomatic efforts as the 2024 ASEAN summits kick off in Laos this week.
For more I have Andres Sanchez Braun a correspondent for Spanish news agency EFE Spain who is currently based here in South Korea.

I also have Aditta Kittikhoun a senior partner at RDK Group a marketing and media firm based in Laos.

1) Aditta, the plenary session of this year's ASEAN Summit will take place on the 9th of October, and before we delve into the agenda ahead, let's begin with a few words about this organization of Southeast Asian nations and its objectives.
2) Aditta, what do you suppose is the significance of Laos hosting the ASEAN and broader summits this year?
3) Aditta, what is on the agenda at this year's ASEAN summit?
4) Andres, following their summit, members of ASEAN will partake in broader dialogue with their regional partners including South Korea.
President Yoon Suk Yeol is poised to sit down with his ASEAN counterparts on Thursday .
What can you tell us about the partnership between South Korea and the ASEAN?
5) Aditta, earlier this year, a presidential adviser speaking within his capacity as a scholar, claimed that the ASEAN is Korea's lifeline while highlighting a more "realistic approach" to advancing relations with the region.
What is the feasibility of this endeavor?
6) Andres, the ASEAN Plus Three Summit including South Korea, Japan, and China will also take place on Thursday .
What issues are likely to top talks under this regional summit?

What are some of the shared interests between South Korea and Laos?
8) Andres, speaking about bilateral relations.
President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba are expected to meet on the margins of the ASEAN gatherings.
What are your prospects regarding Seoul-Tokyo ties under the new Japanese leadership?
9) Aditta, come Friday, the East Asia Summit will take place.
This latest summit comes against the backdrop of wider armed confrontations in the world.
What are the prospects of a joint statement among the leaders against the escalating violence in the Middle East?
10) Andres, can the broader ASEAN framework on regional security be used to dissuade North Korea from engaging in aggressive military endeavors?

well said Additta! we have 4 electric cars in the family here in Vientiane. makes very good sense to have. costs about $50 per month for charging if used all day. good weather year round. only downside is AC has to be used most of the time.

lao is going to be like india, lack of infrastructure and got a new construction after the america left since 1975, took 49 years to finally doing some improvement. lao with all of the dams, the population is paying the highest, instead of it being almost free!

@@lancesay Laos is improving, but it just focusing on the basic foundation need infrastructure before the real growth begin. Be patient and Laos will improve as the region improve along with it. Laos is just moving with the flow and with our regional neighbors at the moment.

Laos focus on Chinese business for the fact that No Japanese or South Korean business ever really focus on Laos. But their is nothing wrong with that since , while they focus on Vietnam and Cambodia or even Thailand. Laos is thrive in a different directions to compensate for lack of Japanese or S. Korean business present there.

This meeting,Thai Foreign Ministry had to pay for Lao face, include transporting members & delegates delivery to Vientiane.

And you have a problem with that? We could of just asked any one of our members for support, rather than Thailand who seem to have issue and complaining too much.
