IF by 2030 bitcoin goes to 1mil. That would mean approx.. 25 T market cap. If by 2040 it goes to 10 mil as per power law that means 250T market cap. Bitcoin you can buy only with fiat currency and there is only 85T $ worth of fiat in the world today. Do you realize that there is a celling to the Bitcoin growth and it cannot follow the power law forever. It is easy to follow the power law when market cap of Bitcoin is low because money is not an issue and is just all about human behavior. But once you go into the trillions things change. Its like with the rules of the quantum world, those cannot be applied to the real world.

I think the price increase of Bitcoin can be calculated because it has a fixed amount. No one will be able to print it or increase its quantity. That is why, compared to the dollar, it will increase in price.

It mathematically makes sense today, but it can change over time. For example, you said you could use the linear formula at the beginning of the s&p 500. But that changed once we got of the gold standard and inflation. Outside disruption can easily change everything.

Yes! Giovanni said the slope of it all can change in the future, but so far since 2014 (I believe?) it's been pretty stable. Giovanni came up with his formula not knowing it was a power law in disguise, and even the one from back then when plotted on log log follows it extremely closely. But over time it can change, and it probably will

From a statistical point of view, it doesn't make much sense - if you change the starting point (i.e from year 2014 to year 2011), there is no linear relationship between year and BTC price. Therefore, you can't say that there is a linear relationship here and you R-squared would be far from 0.95.

I wonder since the halving is essentially predictable and is no secret, I wonder if that doesnt even matter for the price at this point ... as in terms of its already baked into the "law", so scarcity is just what Bitcoin is and the halving is just a part of Bitcoin, and all that is just melted naturally into the "law." So everything is just noise, and Bitcoin will do what its going to do because of the "law" no matter of all those factors and no matter of its parabolic adoption currently happening.

Yeah well, hang on. The power law might be US inflation mirrored in the bitcoin price. The price does not necessarily equate to purchasing power. It could be that money printing deflates the value of the USD which is then reflected in an increase in the price.

That's part of it but that can't account for all the price increase. For instance, if it goes up to 120k in 2025, there won't be a correlating 300% inflation rate in the next calendar year.

Yes, I'm working on adjusting for inflation but as pointed out by other BTC growth cannot be explained just by inflation because it beats inflation to a pulp. The rate of growth is decreasing with time, that is true, but even now or foreseeable future is 20x the inflation rate.
