I’d probably take this over a Polestar 2, and I had a P2 for 3 years. I’m driving an iX now and the BMW quality is defo a step up

I’m a big P2 fan, one area where the P2 is ahead of this is comfort in the rear but otherwise the BMW is a very good car. You’ll find it much firmer than the iX mind.

Love Beemers, but just wish they’d drop the blue ring around the badge, it makes it look cheap which is the polar opposite of their cars 💪🏻

Good review Jim. The interior does look good. The grille...not for me. The hard rear seats are often a problem for older passengers who suffer with joints. Rock hard foam seems to be the norm now sadly.

The rear cabin is quite a compromise in terms of adult comfort but it’s a great thing to drive.

Hi, I’m interested in this car as it’s a similar price to a Nissan Ariya on my company car scheme. Which would you go for if they were the same price?

If space is an issue the Ariya is significantly bigger and way better for rear passengers. If it's just going to be transporting you then go for the BMW

I had done a lot of research and was hesitating between a polestar 2, a i4, a kia ev6 and a ionic 6. I chose to stick to german cars and go for the iX2 rather thab the i4. Bigger and Awd. And in stock....the i4 had to be order from factory

@@Jlbullivant I had my eyes on the ariya myself. It is a nice car! I just like German cars better. I drove an audi etron Q8 and that was lovely but since I tried BMW, I fell in love how they are design inside. The technology is spot on. But if I had to choose between a SUV of that type like the nissan Ariya, The toyota Bz4X and the lexus RZ, I would go with the Lexus for the its design futuristic! It looks spacial but its range is Astrocious apparently. Rule of thumb imo. If you do a lot of longer journeys involving recharging on the go, focus on long range cars too bad for the design. If you journeys are mostly small range ones and you tend to always manage to recharge at home, treat yourself and have a nice car, no matter its range. That s what I did with the iX2 xdrive. Range is average because it is 4WD and the motors are big, but it is safe and fun to drive. I would not recommend it if you do a lot of longer journeys. You will end up paying a lot for recharging on the go. This is not worth it. In that case, there are plenty of other cars with long range batteries and 2WD out there.

BMW (and others) seem think it’s what will sell. I am more taken with a car designed as an EV, not as a “all-things…”. This one is even more expensive, less practical and without any particular feature such as range that makes it attractive. Great video Jim. Very informative and right pace and length. Focus on things that matter. Nice one.

I think I would have the electric new Countryman over this and I’m not hugely keen on the new Countryman - IIRC they share underpinnings anyway. The Countryman is way overpriced too so what chance does this have at a price that starts even higher?

@@danmurphy5889 yes very quick and nippy. I just find the handling far superior on the Audi Quattro Q8. I owned both but I probably attribute this to the size of tyres. Q8 had huge 265 tyres and found the Quattro calculation to provide a better partition throughout the wheels. The audi used to grip the tarmac so much in every conditions and any full acceleration. I cannot recall once that the car was drifting off. I used to feel so safe. BMW seems to rely too much on the front wheels but again I dont know whether the smaller tyres have somEthing to play with this. Only 225 wide tyres on the ix2. Both cars are absolutely amazing though, I have now a preference over BMW in the overall design and technology.

Thanks, the front grill is still hideous, but the rest looks good, and the price too high, but it seems like it is very nice inside and drives well and will probably sell well. There are plenty of better EVs about, Model Y, EV6, Ioniq,Polestar, to name a few. Not for me, I do not want to be a BMW driver.

I'm one of them but not on everything - it looks great on the Polestar 2 (to me) but the car has to suit it. I quite liked it on this BMW to be fair.
