The grill, the radiator, the hoses, the alternator, the cooling fan assembly, and the accessory belt had to be removed just to get access to the pump. A huge jump. 3 cylinder Turbo isn’t that crazy in a small suv. Keep in mind most 1/2 ton trucks nowadays are using 4 and 6 cylinder turbo engines in a lot heavier vehicles.
@theodorgiosan257011 ай бұрын
You're absolutely correct. The 2.7 liter in the Silverado is based on the same engine architecture as this 1.2l and makes the same horsepower per liter. Don't know why everyone complains so much about the engine, it's plenty fast enough for around town and on the highway especially weighing only 3000 lbs. I recommended this car for my mother because of the small engine. There's more space around it to work on it than nearly any other modern car. Everything is easy to get to. Her previous car is a 2013 VW Jetta TDI that she put over 400,000 miles on (she still has that car as well). The power to weight ratio is nearly the same and nobody ever complained about the power in those cars. And my only maintenance experience with this car so far (oil change) was one of the easiest ever. There are doors in the belly pan for easy access of the oil drain plug and filter. The filter is a standard PF64/UPF64R/PH12060 type, is placed vertically behind the door, and the oil drain plug is also vertical behind the door, so the oil drains straight down, instead of overshooting the drain pan and getting oil all over the bottom of the car. It also specs a 5w-30 oil, not a ridiculously thin 0w-16 or 0w-8 oil. The gas mileage is excellent and only gets better with higher octane fuel. 32 mpg average on 87, 35-36 average on 89, 38 average on 93. The engine also runs much quieter on midgrade or premium than on regular. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this car or the new Trax compared to other cars in the same size range.

As for the snow covering the signal lights, no matter where they are installed, when it snows those top lights get covered also. For anyone who made comments regarding there being no rear wiper, you have a rear defroster. When It rains or snows, USE IT. Everyone have a rear window, and most doesn't have a rear wiper and can see out back with no problem. Jusr make sure to brush the snow from your car lights before you start driving? 3 banger engine makes this a deal breaker. Very slow 0-60 and quarter mile. Looks great. Interior looks terrific. But the mechanicals would make me look elsewhere. Typical GM in we rarely receive a great looking car, put together well, with good performance at a respectable price. One of the four always ends up being a major disappointment to where a compromise isn't possible 😞
@palebeachbum11 ай бұрын
The engine will likely prove problematic as the miles rack up. I don't expect the 6-speed auto to be any good either. It's a carryover design and it's proven problematic. People are going to flock to this vehicle because it looks fantastic, drives well, and is priced dirt cheap compared to the competition, but they will regret their purchase in a few years when poor reliability starts rearing its ugly head. This vehicle is made by the same Korean subsidiary that brought us gems like the Cruze, Sonic, and Spark.
@mediocreman211 ай бұрын
Too bad these are made in Korea. But 9.0 seconds to 60 is fine for that kind of vehicle, and that price is not bad. But that brake light design is insane. Hope they can get an AWD version without asking much more money. Sick of the $45k entry level cars these days.
@palebeachbum11 ай бұрын
Since it's intended to be Buick's entry-level model, they've omitted AWD to keep cost down. Same reason for the smallest engine and old-school 6-speed auto.

What does that matter? It's just not that fast, which a lot of buyers don't care about. Is your lawn mower less reliable because it only has a 1 or 2 cylinder engine? Change the oil and don't floor it all the time. There's no actual evidence smaller less powerful engines are less reliable.

@palebeachbum11 ай бұрын
I agree. To add insult to injury, it's a single red bulb to act as both brake and signal. So when you have your brakes on and signal on, you only have 1 tiny brake light way down low where tailgaters aren't as likely to see it. (not counting the high-mount light that all vehicles have). It's an incredibly stupid design decision. Chevy put the brake lights right where they belong on the Trax. Up high.
