2024 Chevy Trax 1RS Review!! A true BUDGET friendly SUV!

I have had my 2024 Trax 1RS for about a month and it is pretty awesome. Much more room then my last Trax. Although.. I got 24 MPG with my 2018 Trax AWD with 1.4L, 4 cylinder Turbo when I took off fast from lights and did not try to conserve gas (Drove it fast pretty much all the time). With my new 2024 1.2L, 3 cylinder turbo I get 22.6 and I have been trying to conserve gas and take off slower. In the 2018 Trax If I shift manually at 2000 RPM and go slow and use cruise control I would get near 40 MPG. I had to be night driving with almost no one on the road because if I had someone behind me at a light I would have to hit the gas harder to take off faster so I would not slow down others and that would ruin the MPG. I have not tried to get 40MPG on the 2024 yet but I will soon. I don't think it will do as good but I am happy with the new one even with the lower mileage. The 2024 Trax is faster with less effort then the older one. Much more room for stuff and people in the 2024.

It really is a great little car! I wish they came in AWD. If they did, I would consider owning one

Perhaps the fuel economy will improve once the engine is broken in. I drove one for an afternoon and really enjoyed it!

It's a wagon. Ground clearance isn't that of an SUV. Both 4WD and AWD aren't even options. 1RS trim gives you quite a few sporty touches, with a turbo-charged 3 cylinder engine that let's you do 0-60mph. in literally just a tick under 10 seconds. There are naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engines that are faster. If you just want something that only _looks_ sporty. Fair enough, the Trax 1RS is a great choice.

It has a wet belt timing belt this is a rubber belt that runs trough the oil and is a cheap move by GM and Daewoo of Korea no reason they could have not used a chain a rubber belt in oil will not last it will degrade. Timing belt problems We strongly recommend replacing the timing belt along with the entire timing kit every 40,000 miles for this engine. This is important because the broken belt will quite obviously mean that you need a new engine. Repairing this powerplant (this word sounds ironic when used for the 1.2L little guy) after head problems and piston cracks is just insanely expensive.
