Nice review, I just ordered one today. Sv boost is by far my favorite braking system. To me it’s a mechanical DC brake. I have no preference between Daiwa and shimano, they’re all good. Just pair the right reel to the right rod and line/lure and it’s off to the races.

Best $175 reel on the market with the hyper drive digigear. You can use it for anything. It’s almost as good as my Zillion. You can absolutely spool that Tatula reel with a 3/8-1/2oz lure
@TTangOutdoors5 күн бұрын
It's my goal to be able to cast the entire spool off. I'm still learning how to improve my distance. You mind sharing what kinda line and rod and brake setting for casting that far? I'm sure there's a lot to do with casting motion and skills but just curious about your setup

I like those reels. My problem is the ergonomics. I had a Fuego CT. The brake dial is right where I want to put my finger and it annoys me. Wish they'd do something like they do with the Steez and kind of bury it in the side plate.
@TTangOutdoors6 ай бұрын
I have the Fuego and tatula CT as well and I don't like the ergonomics as well... greater caster tho. This new 100 frame is really comfortable! I used to get bruises from the old 103 frame not this one! I still accidentally touch the brake dial but not as much as the old frame

what do u think about the Daiwa Phantom baitcaster
@TTangOutdoors2 ай бұрын
I assume you are talking about the Daiwa Australia phantom bait caster. I personal don't have any experience with it but judging by the specs and info on the website, it looks like an entry level reel with MagForce brake so it should cast well. Other components looks cheap and I have a feeling that it's not made in Thailand like the majority of the Daiwa reels. I could be wrong

@TTangOutdoors7 ай бұрын
That's the beauty of the Daiwa Magforce braking system. For your general weight range from 1/8 to 2oz generally you don't need to touch the tension knob at all. That's why it's called the Zero Adjustor.

I can't express my displeasure more to Daiwa about them putting their crappy 11 lb. drag in all their newer reels!!!
@TTangOutdoorsАй бұрын
What's the number of lb. drag are you expecting? 100 or 150 size Daiwa casting reels have always used 9 to 13 lbs of drag. My Tatula CT does have 13lbs and I had no problem fighting a pre-spawn 44inch pike. 11Lb was pretty good for my bass and walleye fishing. My Tatula elite (11lb drag) caught lots of big pike too. And Daiwa drag is pretty smooth too.
@floydmayes4924Ай бұрын
@TTangOutdoors The problem is evidently not only the poundage but the material itself. Ever hear the words herky jerky drag? That's exactly what the newer 11 lb. drags are. And yes, I'll take a 13.2 lb. drag over 11 lb. any day of the week!
@TTangOutdoorsАй бұрын
@floydmayes4924 i will need to pay more attention to the drag feel when I fight a decent fish!
@floydmayes4924Ай бұрын
@TTangOutdoors I got a Coastal SV TW 150XS reel. Actually two. If I had known, number one, that these reels had an 11 lb. drag, I would NEVER had bought them. I have 4 Tatula TW 150HS reels with the 13.2 lb. drag and I love them. The only bad thing about these reels is they don't come in a 8.1 gear ratio!
@TTangOutdoorsАй бұрын
@floydmayes4924 I know some shimano baitcaster reels have different drag for different gear ratio. Low ratio has higher drag than high gear. There's gotta be a physical reason to that.
@michaelloucks44484 ай бұрын
I thought the reels were ok but I couldn't get any type of casting distance at all. And I've been using baitcasteing reels for over 30 yrs. I think lews makes the best in the business. Shimano s are nice but they are to overpriced and they don't last very long after a while you have to keep oiling them . On the diawa the thumbar kept sticking and I had to keep constantly putting oil in it. The lews reels cast further never any maintenance problems super smooth retrieves. I think these Japanese Korean Chinese companies are just garbage. I use American rod's and reel's now bad experiences with the foreign stuff.

I just laugh at your comment towards the end. Please tell me which bait caster is made in America????
