I'm a Republican, listed as an LV on polling data, yet I didn't vote for Trump in 2020 because he was a terrible president, I voted for Biden. Allan Lichtman’s model and prediction are more reliable. Lichtman’s prediction is absolute: he calls out a clear winner based on his model. Nate Silver’s prediction is made as probabilities where both candidates have a ‘probability’ to win (which we already know) so in the end he is not making any sense

Nate Silver’s prediction is based on factors that favored Trump in 2016(why these people keep comparing this race to 2016 rather than 2020, I don’t understand…I guess because Kamala and Hillary are both women?). For example, he and others say the polling underestimated voters for Trump. Fine, but that’s because he was an unknown commodity then. People voted for him because he was an “outsider,” who would “drain the swamp.” Also, Hillary was historically unpopular. Now we’ve had four years of chaos with him as president and another 4 years of him whining about it. And Kamala isn’t unpopular at all. Plus, polling has skewed right the last few cycles and democrats have massively over performed everywhere. I’m fairly confident Nate Silver is wrong

In 2016 he was underestimated by roughly 1.5 points relative to Hillary. In 2020 they polls got Biden pretty precise, but Trump took a much bigger share of undecided that anticipated. I’m not saying that this means that Trump will necessarily be underestimated by pollsters this time, but also we have to accept that Trump has proven very hard to poll and was underestimated both times he was running. In realclear’s aggregate Harris is ahead by 1.2% nationally right now, while at the same time in the campaign in 2020 Biden was ahead by 7.5% and Hillary was ahead by 2.7% in 2016.

Do you think Trump's past tendency to overperform his polls still applies? I'd also like your analysis of the odds of Harris/Walz winning a trifecta. How much difference does it make that Harris/Walz moved~ $25 million to their down ballot races ? Seems super-smart to me, but how much difference do you think that is likely to make?

I believe there a large swath of Republican voters who are not showing up in the polls as voting for Harris in addition to newly motivated Dem voters because of the Harris nomination and abortion.

An English newspaper did a poll recently { Daily Mail } , over here people go out and ask people their views and how they'd vote if they were to stand in the UK . Undecieded got 16% Trump got 22% and Harris got 62% , just how people outside the USA think with a semblance of normality and intelligence
