2024 Electoral College Certification

The Senate joins the House in a Joint Session to Count Electoral Votes to certify the 2024 election of Donald Trump and JD Vance. Vice President Kamala Harris presides as President of the Senate.
The last such constitutionally required occasion was on January 6, 2021 when the counting and debate on objections to a state certification were interrupted by a riotous mob that overcame police, trespassed on the Capitol building itself, invaded the Senate chamber and other quarters therein. The fatal event led to President Trump's second impeachment and extensive fencing around the Capitol complex for months.
