They best listen to the people😅 because i keep seeing complaints in comments about the look. It's also very expensive because you can get better for less. They should take notes for their next design.

I do think the range needs to be better for the money! As for the looks, that's subjective for sure, but to me the Cooper E/SE is like what Picasso (right after his blue period) might have come up with. LOTS of people seem to hate it, though!

Just like Jeremy Clarkson, you were unapologetically honest and objective with your review. Thanks MrChia… I decided to explore the Mini electric range and have booked myself a Countryman SE test drive session!

Great review! Thank you. I appreciate your advice about driving efficiently and slowing down. Here in the USA, reviewers make the mistake of judging all EVs only at 70 mph for efficiency and range. But cars get much better consumption at 55 mph. We could stop focusing on 300-400 mile range large battery cars (less sustainable and wasting battery resources) and instead eek out the same range with a smaller battery by just slowing down. Same problem with focusing on max charging speeds. I think MINI has to drop the round display. What a boat anchor of a feature. The continuous double display on the BMWs (iDrive 8 and beyond) is so much more functional and smart looking.
@MrChiaSG5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! All the younger guys seemed to love the round display so I figured I was just old 😂 But it really does try to do too much with one screen. That’s a great point about driving at 55 - drive a little slower, save a lot of energy!

Had five MINI’s currently two on the drive and the plastic of the hatch around the arches is just a pain to clean as it fades over time and looks marked. You can cover it with a gel but after a month it goes back to see apply. This Car needed to be £10k cheaper, that rear end that looks so not MINI and 300 miles real world. The fact there is so many gimmicks like the experiences is covering up for the miss on the design front and still lack of range ( we will see real world test). When your past customers hate the rear styling so have to think. Real world range tests by the people I trust on utube will be interesting .Renault 5 retro starting for £25k is to me a better option. The screen at least seems impressive. Buttons are good md it needs level one HUD.

Very valuable comments there. Thanks for sharing! FWIW I covered around 140 km in the Cooper SE and returned it with 75 km left of range, after a bit of spirited driving 😁

Sir, you dearly need to explain pricing policies in Singapore. 200'000 Dollars for a Mini? What? Are there some punitive taxes levied from these imports?!
@MrChiaSG6 ай бұрын
Oof don't get us started! Yes there are some painful taxes but it's complicated... Generally we pay 3 to 5 times what some countries pay for the same car. Did you see our review of the Mercedes E 200 that costs nearly 280,000 Euros here! 😢 Should we put a video together explaining all the taxes?
@richard70716 ай бұрын
The Singapore government really wanted to stop people buying cars, but thought an outright ban was a bit OTT - so they tax the beejeesus out of them.
@manoman06 ай бұрын
@@MrChiaSG Thank you for the insight. In fact, that's a highly interesting topic (at least for me). If you have the resources, I'd be more than happy to learn about the singapore taxing policies. As for the E200; I'll be checking your videos on and off!

Great car review, but could never own an electric car. Hydrogen fuelled cars is the way to go for the future as waiting around for hours for an electric car to charge up is not acceptable…
@MrChiaSG6 ай бұрын
Wow that's awfully progressive of you. Hydrogen naysayers are far more common. Having had the chance to drive a couple of hydrogen cars, I have to say I think the technology is nearly ready for primetime!

Stan Meyer invented a water powered car very long ago and so did an African inventor not that long ago. It's possible because Porsche recently produced a water powered car.@@MrChiaSG Nikola Tesla predicted that there would be an energy revolution because its all very primitive even in 2024.

You can buy a lot of Petrol range by not buying a EV that costs around a third more up front and a new battery in around 5 years. Plus ULEZ, pay per mile and Vehicle Excise Duty from this year. Buy a Petrol version. No brainer.
@MrChiaSG4 ай бұрын
That's interesting! Over here a Cooper SE costs GBP15K less than the Cooper S, and the battery warranty is 8 years.

@MrChiaSG6 ай бұрын
How you’re right for Mini’s sake. It didn’t sell very well in Singapore, but maybe things are different where you are. Also, the market has moved on since the first Cooper SE. 305 km is weak.
@ipodee786 ай бұрын
Had two Minis before. They were lookers but for SG prices, terribly overpriced and resale values ain’t great. The entire new range of EVs will be overpriced too.

Out of curiosity, why did you have two Minis? And what do you reckon about the petrol range like the new Countryman?
