Collars make a top more structured and highlight the face, that’s why Polo styles are so flattering. I’m glad people are making an effort to dress in proper day clothes again and to look more put-together, even elegant. I always did, but I’m 63 and always wear only what makes me feel my best. We all should!

I watched since the 80s for those preppy/classic, high-quality Quiet Luxury styles to come back in. I adore Polo sweaters, for one, and just about anything with contrast-trim. I just kept Googling these items until they returned. I loved the styles that were worn in the late 70s, when I was a teenager, through the preppy early 80s, like flared or stovepipe jeans with a turtleneck and blazer, or a Polo shirt and silk scarf, instead of the turtleneck. Or a tweed or plaid short skirt and knee-high leather boots with the same tops. They are just such classics; from Y2K until about 2022, only weird, “new” styles were available. I remember a news reporter who wore a black catsuit with a big front zipper every day for years around that time! Classics became classics because they always flatter a woman’s shape, structure is a gal’s best (wardrobe) friend.
