2024 First State Airshow - C-17 Globemaster III Demonstration

VOLT17, the callsign of this C-17 from Joint Base Charleston, takes to the skies over ‪@DoverAirForceBase‬ to showcase the C-17's flight characteristics at a base where C-17s are based. Typically when the C-17 Demo Teams perform at bases where C-17s are also based, they will fly a jet from that base. Because of mission requirements, a Dover-based C-17 was unable to be used, and thus, the crew flew their Charleston-tailed C-17.
The demonstration was flown by Major Nathaniel Batts, Captains Alyx Darger and Sierra Kelly along with loadmaster SSgt Charles Palmer.
This is the first airshow with a new video camera and while the output in the eyepiece looked fine, much of the video is not. As in past videos from the last 24+ years I've shot using manual focus set out to infinity. At certain zoom the picture is fine and once you go all the way in, you lose a considerable amount of sharpness. I had no idea about this until I downloaded the video off the card. Video from Thursday and Friday were shot in manual focus and Saturday and Sunday was shot in auto focus.

The rate applies only to music broadcast over the public address system during the air show portion of the program and does not provide the air show with the right to use pre-recorded music at concerts or other non-air show special events held in conjunction with the air show.
