I’m old.. well 60… but I’m much older because of my life’s experiences. I grew up on a sheep and cattle ranch in NM. We worked hard and had to make due with what ever equipment we had. It wasn’t unusual to see ranchers pulling a 4 horse traitors with a 1/2 ton pickup. We had to cut firewood to make extra money to support the ranch. I often hauled 6 cores of wood on our horse trailer and 1 cord of wood in the pickup with sideboards. A cord is 4x4x8. We never weighed our trailers or pickups. But I’ve read a green cord of wood can weigh 3000-4000 lbs. The point of my rambling is this. Todays trucks are light years ahead of pickups from the 1960’s and 1970’s. We had several 1/2 ton trucks from the 1950’s, 60’s and a 1968 F-250 with a 390 / 4 speed and 3:72 gears. We also had a 1979 F-350 crew cab with a 400 / 4 speed 4:10 gears. The only advantage these older trucks had over todays 1/2 ton is weight and heavier springs, and axles. I know… people freak out when they see an overloaded pickup and trailer… but that was the norm, not the exception 40 years ago. We use to make a little extra money hauling single wide trailer houses from El Paso Texas to the mountain resort areas like Ruidoso and Cloud Croft. Again, have no idea what the trailers weighed but it was a lot. We live in a time that’s very different then 1970. Lawsuits are a constant and people spend $80,000-$120,000 on a pickup truck. It’s well out of my income level as inflation is much higher than my income increases. In 1978 we ordered our 1979 F-350 Crew Cab. We were so excited. The total cost was $7890.00 for the most loaded up pickup of its time. Chevy and GMC offered something similar for about $1200 more and it came with a 454 and auto transmission. My Vo Ag teacher had one to haul for the school. He bought his Chevy about the same time we bought our Ford. He went with a duel rear wheel setup and we went with the SRW. It was more expensive than the Ford but to be fair, I think it was a lot nicer. The Chevy loaded up with the old Fisher bodies were pretty luxurious for a ranch truck. It had power windows, an auto transmission, very nice cloth interior and it was very quite inside.

At 8:26 , the Towing Assist isn't for installed cameras, it is for blind spot and jack knife protection, it asks you to enter exact measurements of the trailer dimensions like distance from the ball to trailer axel, width of trailer, etc.. and then while driving and you put on the turn signal you get the camera view that you saw, but it will also have a red area on the screen showing you where cars are next to the trailer. It is pretty cool

Love the look of the 2024 GMC Sierra interior. The 10 speed transmission really helps the new 6.6 Duramax put the power to the ground.

JD, the brake break away is an AWESOME idea for all of these trucks while using these types of heavy trailers with brakes. What about that hitch with the multipro tailgate. Also, GM needs to include a 4-way pin trailer plug with the 7-way pin at the bumper. There is a 4-way pin plug in the bed. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO CONTENT!😊

I have the LT version of this truck with the max tow package, payload is 3800 lbs. the changes they made in the engine are dramatic, non towing, I get 21 mpg combined hey and in town . The power is much better than my 2021. Tows my 13,500 lb fifth wheel with no issues.

@@cisco1dog that's a shame, it's a deal breaker for me. We tow 10+ hours 2-3x a year and the current seats kill my knees. I just need to accept we're going to switch to a RAM when we get our 3/4 ton since Fords prices are insane.

GM has a very specific trailer brake setup procedure that I find really handy. I've used it on all of my trucks. I think it would be great if you did a video on that. It basically states that you need to get up to 30 mph and test that the brakes are setup for maximum gain without locking up the trailer tires. that way you get max braking in emergency stopping situations without locking up your trailer tires. As always great content!

Put the truck in drive, raise the gain on the trailer until the truck doesn't move. Basic trailering for any truck.

Maybe you can attach the trailer breaks to the hole that the spare tire safety cable is attached too but maybe it is just a to far away but looks like it is right in line. Just a thought beautiful rig.

I just replaced a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd duramax truck with 214k miles 3 bad injectors, but needing all 8 injectors due to truck age and mileage with a 2024 GMC SIERRA 2500HD AT4 DURAMAX TRUCK. So far after 2 months and about 1500 miles, we are pleased with our choice. The real test will be when we star camping in April 2024.😊

I have a 2021 Denali 1500 and was looking forward to upgrading to the 2024 as I couldn’t get a 2500 back during Covid. I really am having second thoughts now that I see the placement of the break controls. Really how often does one need to use them that they need to be right on the center console? I have been driving and using trucks on and off for 3 decade and the placement in the 2021 Denali I thought was great. It was fast and easy to reach never was encumbered by other items in the vehicle. This new location could be covered up by items on the seat could be harder for left-handed individuals. I guess you could say the same for the placement of the 2021 but that’s likely for any other vehicle as well, although some of the GMC‘s and Chevys had them on the left side of the steering wheel. Honestly, I just think they made a mistake by putting it on the center consul. I know the person who filmed this thought it was a great placement and I generally agree with most of what this guy says but I don’t know what this guy was thinking. This is the worst placement for a break control ever. I mean imagine some coffee being spilled on this thing and it being shorted out and I don’t know what could happen if that occurs nothing good I imagine!
