I will be there for Easter this year. My first trip to Greece was in 1976 for Easter. It’s a lovely time to be there during Easter.

For people that do want to experience the Greek Islands, consider the west coast of Greece and the Ionian Islands. A different feeling to the better known Aegean islands but still incredibly beautiful and Greek but with a touch of Italy and Venice in the mix.

They are a great option but I was there in July last year and it was still crowded there too. 🥲

I've been a little worried about this. We'll be in Greece the beginning of June for like a week. Athens, Nafplio and Sifnos. Hoping we'll beat the crowds, or at least the worst of them. I have been following all your videos for the helpful tips and info. Most everything is already booked, except for some transportation (cars only). Thank you for all that you provide!

We did nafplio & Athens in September! Absolutely loved it , So we’re coming to Greece again end of April starting in Santorini, moving on to Aegina & then back to Athens 😀 5th of may we’re due to get a ferry back from Aegina to Athens, which we havnt booked as of yet, do you think we will have a problem getting a ferry this day with it being Easter? Thanks for your videos Tiffany, we’ve binged watched alot of them! Loads of love from York England. 🏴
@agirlandherpassport8 ай бұрын
I don’t know. In Tinos a few years ago, there were no ferries on Easter but there was on Syros last year. You will need to check. The schedule might be out for Easter but may be not until the end of the month.

Thanks for the heads up, Tiffany. The last two years I’ve noticed the crowds and prices too. I’ve always loved Greece enough to endure! But on the other side of Greek crowds and prices (flying home) both in 2022 and 2023, I tried to fly home over the 4th of July weekend, (I’m a May-June Greece fan), but both years my Delta flight Athens to NYC was cancelled. Not changed or rebooked, simply cancelled. Both times I eventually found something into NYC (through Amsterdam) but it took a couple days and I lost my seat upgrades and gluten free meals. Plus I couldn’t get any sane connecting flights from NYC to home. I wound up renting cars both years and making a very long drive home from the city with one way rental fees. It’s always a tough trip (I go from Athens to off the grid little quiet islands that takes a couple days to get to and from,) but the last two years the return trip went from tough to abject misery. My point being that costs and crowds aren’t just a Greece thing. I won’t fly home the week of the 4th again-guess I’ll be stuck in Greece another week! Lol!
@agirlandherpassport8 ай бұрын
Ugh that sounds like a nightmare. Wonder why they cancelled. It’s not like July 4th is a Greek holiday. Did they ever explain?
@TheGlitterGlobe8 ай бұрын
@@agirlandherpassport They never said why. I did ask, but I don’t think that the rebooking agents ever know why. The night before I was to leave (just got to Athens for it!) they dropped me a text. I assume it’s because flights within the US (I was flying home) were a hot mess. The news sources were calling it “Airmageddon” in the headlines. The connecting flights out of JFK home weren’t available for a couple days. I did drive home faster than waiting on them! They did say I’d be credited those flights but they didn’t do it. Afterwards I simply didn’t have enough energy leftover to keep calling them about it. I’ve just hated them quietly since. 😂

Wild! I’m so grateful that I haven’t had that happen. I would not be a pleasant person to deal with. Driving back was a good idea.

Thanks, Tiffany. We found the One Day Cruise from Flisvos Marina cancelled on May 1 years ago. Could you do a vlog about the new Ellinikon Project? It looks like it will be an easy tram ride from the center of Athens.
@agirlandherpassport8 ай бұрын
I’m surprised they would cancel that. They really just shouldn’t book anything that day if they are going to do that. I am not sure it’s fully finished so I want to wait. Although, I am not sure.

The mainland has a lot to offer. Greece is not just Thessaloniki or Kalamata, there are many other places outsiders dont know about and are really worth it... really too many to mention....
@agirlandherpassport8 ай бұрын
Of course but those are still less visited than the islands and relatively easy to get to.

@agirlandherpassport Ioannina is an elegant city. The region of Metsovo is where some of my people come from. Metsovo is another must see city/town in Greece. The culture a bit different where the background is Vlach, a tribe in Greece that speaks a Latin dialect.

Hi Tiffany- Thank you for your latest Vlog. Sadly I think that even the smallest islands you have mentioned will become overwhelmed in time due to Greece's constant chase for the tourist pound/dollar/euro etc. On a separate note do you know anything about the "Climate Crisis Resilience Charge " which I think replaces the old Hotel Stayover Tax and is due to come into force this year ? I guess for package holidaymakers they will not notice but for us independent travellers we will have to pay up when we leave the room / hotel/taverna etc. Do you know how much it will be.? Thanks
@agirlandherpassport8 ай бұрын
I think it will take some time for that to happen but only time will tell. Yes, I talk about it in this video. It will be from €1.50 to €10 a night depending on the type of hotel you book. It’s from March to October only though then in the off season it reverts to the old price.
@nickgiles75688 ай бұрын
Whoops sorry ! The phone rang and I missed that section of your Vlog so my apologies. How lucky was I to get a Blue Star ferry from Piraeus to Naxos for 20 euro each way ( 28 Aug- 7 Sept) by booking in January direct with BS soon after their schedule was published. Not available on their website had to use an agent in Athens but their handling charge was minimal. Saving to go towards the new tax .@@agirlandherpassport

If you go to the mainland you will be fine. June has been dead the last few years. All the hype is mainly the cycladic islands. If you go to these islands such as santorini book now. If you can affors mykonos you aint reading this and can go whenever as you can afford it. But santorini does has deals if you book early.
