Love everything in your haul. I love decorating for Halloween. I am a Christian and I decorate for fun. I do use the "usual" Halloween items, but nothing gory. My Mama decorated for us kids and made it a fun time. I have always decorated too. It's only for fun.

Absolutely. I think this is why we love Halloween. It is nostalgia. What I would give to have all of my cheap cardboard-bought childhood costumes. Those costumes with plastic mask you could barely breath through were everything. Who knew we would long for them. I think this is what we long for. It's just so nostalgic. When I watch Hocus Pocus, I savor every moment of the town , the costumes, the home decor, . . . I can't get enough. No one should be deprived of that.

Decorate with what YOU love. I decorate for Halloween because I LOVE the cute decorations. I use witches and cats and birds and pumpkins and more. I don't do scary. I like funny. Last year at my porch entrance I did pumpkins in my planter with trick or treating rat skeletons on top. They each had tiny pumpkin candy buckets. After I put up the cute things; my husband works in his scary things. We don't care. We do it for US. Great haul! Love your videos!

I know! I am going to be devistated if I have to keep them packed away. We’re going to see what happens. My priority is to find a way to bring Jesus into the day. One idea I have is, I’m thinking about getting some “Jesus Loves You” bracelets to add to our candy handouts for trick or treaters.

I decorate with a few fall items only (space constraints), but I enjoyed seeing all the cute Halloween decor. I can appreciate David’s feelings and am glad you are sensitive to them as well. I have a lot of Christmas decor and because we are also getting older I have been purging more every year and concentrating on nativities but I have too many of those as well. I want to simplify as I get older but It’s a process because I have collected all the decor over the year’s just as you are doing. 😅enjoy! “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

It’s all where our heart lies and who is on our minds each day you know. Yes I am in that era of my life that I still decorate big for all the holidays. One day I won’t want to. I just want to enjoy it while it still brings me joy.

Becky I loved looking at your Halloween stuff. I use to put up halloween when kid were little and did not feel bad as a chrishion. I know some do, but I talked with my pastors wife, who also had a little Halloween decor, she said you can put the devil in anything or you can put God in it. It is how you look at it. Are you worshiping it or is it just for fun? Mine was for fun as I am sure yours is. ❤

I'm so glad you addressed this....I have recently been starting my walk with God....very new...and I have always decorated for Halloween. I look at it for fun, I don't do evil decor but I associate Halloween with my memories as a child when you got a new costume every year and you got to go trick or treating with your parents. There was no danger back then. I'm 61 and grew up in DFW . I have goodness in my heart and if you want to get real .... actually Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny fit with the same issue. I still plan on decorating and will still be on my walk with God ❤

That's exactly what my Mom said ti me, she always decorated for Halloween of course Christmas too. She said people can have evil in their heart any day of the year, there is no evil in my heart it's all for fun and that's how it is for me.❤❤❤ I think of my Mom when I decorate and how happy I was when I came home from school and the house was all decorared.

Thank you all ladies, I need to hear all of this. I agree with all of you. The conviction was never with me but with David. (Or he didn’t know if it was God’s conviction or him just over thinking things) even though I had zero conviction myself I had to listen to David’s thoughts. We both prayed and spoke to our pastor friend and he is feeling much better about the situation but I would be lieing if I didn’t tell you my heart was breaking at the thought of losing my precious Halloween.

I think this will be my last year to hand out candy. I have so few kids that show up to trick or treat in my neighborhood. I’m a Christian too and my family has certain convictions about Halloween. I do believe that each family has to pray and follow what God is calling them to. I don’t do Halloween decorations inside, but I put pumpkins and Snoopy in my yard for kids who trick or treat. I do enjoy seeing you decorate for all the seasons in your home!

@@TexSquirrel I understand that and I completely agree about everyone’s convictions being different. We have well over a hundred trick or treaters that come in our neighborhood. I think that even f we turned our light out they would still come knocking on our door. lol! My family also gathers at my house with all the little ones since ai have a safe neighborhood to trick or treat in. Even without the decorations Halloween is such a joyful time in my home. I think we are going to find ways to add our faith in our decorations and also I want to get some Jesus Loves You bracelets to hand out (with candy) to the trick or treaters. That way our minds are still on him and maybe it will impact someone else’s life as well.

You can keep witch n remove her hat n give her a bandana like cooks have. I’m Christian n I have a lot of Halloween. I had lots trauma as kid n Halloween, Christmas n other holidays are only times I feel happy. When people visit my house they are welcomed with fun and food. For me, it’s just opportunity to have fun. ❤

Becky- 🎃 know what you mean about Halloween: I have always had little visitors coming during October, and I decided to limit 'scary' a long time ago to the things that spooked us a kids, which were old trees, the moon at times, owls, scarecrows and cats. Of course old Victorian houses that were abandoned in our area made our imagination run wild, and a cat once jumped up on a fence when I was riding my bike down to the corner. 🙀 I love cats now though. I think you may be able to get away with the canisters- they look like ladies with party hats more than witches.

I had some really cute kittens with black witch hats made by designers They were really hard to give up. What made me get rid of them was because I decided that I didn't want anything cute or funny about witches at all. I had two friends who got caught up in the real thing. One became a Christian, the other drifted away from church and is now interested in Wicca. I love that you take your husband's feelings into consideration. 💖 If you ever decide to give up the witch kitsch, God will bless you for it.

I hope you get to keep your witches, it’s just in fun. I know that some folks don’t see it that way but I feel you can be Christian and put out Halloween decor. The Lord knows our true hearts and intent and others are not to judge. That aside, so happy you found the JP witch canister. My mom got me the creamer and sugar last year, I’d love to find the canisters. The kitchen witch is adorable, she looks like a sweet little grandma witch, lol. The "Pumpkin Palace" is selling on eBay for a silly amount of money, so I suspect they have been scooped by resellers. Oh well, saved me some money!!

First of all, I am a God fearing Christian, but i do decorate for Halloween with cute pieces. I dont ever do scary, because everything in our world is scary now. I do ghosts because I have a spirit in my house who makes radios & music boxes play at random & leaves new shiny coins in my hallway. I decorate just to have cute, different decor to look at. I get tired of seeing the same things day after day. I think kids using their creative juices to make costumes, other than gory, is a good outlet. Our kids are growing up in an unsure world now.i cant see how dressing up funny & collecting treats affects anything bad, except for their teeth. I do have a problem with all the commerialism though. In the old days, kids had just as much if not more fun without having to spend a lot of money.

I found a tea kettle but it wasn’t her design. It was really cute and very similar but it was by a different maker. I ended up putting it back because I had already gotten so much this year. I think our Johanna window has closed for this year unfortunately 🙁

While I do not have any criticism for those that think that Hallowween is bad, I do need to express my own opinions because those who think this way have been intolerant (outright mean) towards me and my love for the holiday. I am a Christian and these are my thoughts: No one should be forming an opinion/changing their life based on what someone else thinks. The only opinion that should be followed is that of God. We are not supposed to just follow earthly man or his interpretation of what the Bible says. Read it for yourself. God gives us all discernment. There are too many false prophets today and we need to not be divided or distracted by them. God knows a person's heart: having fun with a centuries old single day Holiday is a far cry from someone who is actively promoting Paganism/Demonology. God knows who we are. Considering how old this Holiday is, if celebrating it is promoting it, Paganism/Demonology should be by now the third most popular "religion." Seriously. Final thought to consider: according to this standard, no one should be putting up a Christmas tree or exchanging gifts. No one should be using the Easter Bunny either or giving out baskets of candy to kids. These practices have their origins in Paganism too.

Agree agree agree! With every word you spoke. My husband and I were having a discussion about if we thought celebrating Halloween was a bad reflection on us as Christians. We both prayed about it and we came to the decision that we knew our intentions were pure and we were going to decorate with just a couple changes. I knew from the beginning that I wasn’t being convicted but if there was even the slightest chance that David was I would not push the matter. I couldn’t have lived with that. I appreciate you saying all of that because it is nice to hear someone tell me that I’m not evil for enjoying something that I love so much.

Becky, I was hesitant to comment because I know I will be persecuted. I used to decorate with the cute Halloween decor. My husband and I after listening to a message that was absolutely from the Bible I went out and burned my decoration. I did not donate or trash, because I did not want to give what I believed to be wrong to anyone. One has to read, study and do what God wants not man. I can private message you who we listen too. I love you and no matter what you use because you are so real and sweet ❤

I understand Kathy, and I hope no one has anything negative to say to you because you have thoughts that are different than theirs. David and I both have prayed about this as well as spoken to a very dear pastor friend who we trust and value his opinion. We have watched different pastor’s on KZbin talk about the subject and read numerous Bible verses that were given to us in trying to work through this decision. I can truly from the bottom of my heart tell you that I have zero conviction in my heart when it comes to Halloween. David’s conviction comes only with anything pertaining to witches and witch craft. I am making changes to make him more comfortable but I will still be decorating for Halloween. Please know that I deeply respect your decision not to celebrate, I feel like a conviction from the Lord is personal to each of us which is why I took David’s concerns so seriously.
