I will add to this review that to get more trunk space (if not storing the middle seat back there) you can remove those 2 plastic dividers and the lift up floor section can be positioned almost to the bottom of that area. This gives you more space without having to have stuff under that lid. I have a 2019 Pilot that that back floor can be lowered about another 3 or 4 inches and I wanted to see if the new Pilot's could also be positioned in a similar way so when I test drove one the other week I specifically tested this function and I can confirm there are indeed 2 possible trunk floor levels with the removable lid.

Everyone in my neighborhood got the Elite Pilot. Lol It's $60k and I thought inflation was bad.

Part of that inflation problem is your neighbors. For as long as people are willing to spend there’s no need for prices to come down.

Worth the expense for a vehicle that has a bullet proof engine/transmission that can take you from coast to coast & Canada to Mexico carry a spare tire or two change your fluids regularly and she is good to go anywhere anytime. 48v mild hybrid might be acceptable to the current engine.

I really like this vehicle - it's on my top 3 (maybe top 5) list. The Grand Highlander (or Lexus TX depending on how much money I'm willing to part with) is the other top competitor, with even more cargo space. Have you measured the Grand Highlander (on your other channel)? Because if the extra 10 cu feet that the GH has over this is all height, I won't miss it if I get this Pilot. What I'm trying to say is, I value square feet more than cubic feet because I never load stuff higher than the seat back. So if the GH gives me an extra foot of space front to back (or some number of inches side to side, or a combination of the two) then I'll probably get in line for a GH. Otherwise, I really like the NA V6. My 3 biggest gripes with the Pilot are: (1) the 9" screen (I thought I had decided that it was big enough, but come on Honda, the GH, TX, and Korean twins all have far more screen space. (2) the rubber timing belt (vs a chain.) Now I have a big bucks maintenance item at 80 - 100k miles that I wouldn't have with the Toyota V6 (that isn't in anything anymore except the TX 550h+). (3) Direct injection only. What were they thinking when they redesigned this motor? Otherwise, it checks so many other boxes that I could see myself owning this.

The Grand Highlander has a 4 Cylinder engine, which is one of the reasons I went with the Pilot.

@@jamesx3030It's expensive, but not for the equipment you get. Go price a fully equipped (all the safety systems, 360 view cameras, heated/ventilated seats, etc.) 3-row unibody SUV. It slots in pretty competitively. A Lexus TX similarly equipped is a bunch more bucks. EVERYTHING is expensive these days 😙

Tom, do you know what feature is missing on the set of switches to the left of the steering wheel (see 14:15)? This is the Elite trim, which I thought got all the features there are to get. So what's that button blank? Stuff like that makes me curious to know what that function is when there's a real switch there.

I’ve had my ‘24 Pilot Elite since March, about 8,000 miles on it now. Compared to the ‘21 Passport I had before it, the ride quality is a bit too floaty for my I liking, whereas the Passport’s suspension had quicker dampening and didn’t wallow. The new engine in the Pilot is nice, but the old one felt stronger and definitely had better MPG. The new transmission is not great, I feel, it is shifting all the time, and the 1st gear is too much of a granny gear and it quickly goes through the 1st gear into 2nd every time, resulting in a lurching feeling. Too many gear shifts for 0-45, it never lets the engine get above 3,000 RPM unless you get aggressive with the gad pedal position. And, last complaint is the steering. It is way too light. Zero steering feedback, way too much power assist, and at highway speeds it isn’t a stable feeling. The heated seats also take forever to warm up, and don’t get nearly as warm as the previous generation. And last complaint, the cargo area is larger for sure, but the opening is actually smaller, with less height clearance. So, definitely some things to consider for potential buyers. I’d love to see Honda offer a sportier trim package with an improved suspension for handling. I’m hoping future updates can address things like shift points, throttle response 23:12 , and steering assist.
@songoku7383 Жыл бұрын
Lol very true, I feel as though every new vehicle is trying to just copy the same formula to turn into luxury vehicles. Everything is floaty, steering wheel is super light etc. love ur honesty. as someone who owns a 23 honda pilot on lease. I have been a long-time Toyota owner. I drive a 2021 Highlander Platinum Hybrid that only has 14k miles on it. I do not buy used vehicles, and if this Honda Pilot Eliet came in a Hybrid, I absolutely would switch to this Honda model. In 2024 I will be in the market once again for my next new Hybrid vehicle. The Lexus TX 500H FSport Performance is on my radar. But only because I have never driven a luxury type of vehicle. Hybrid is what I want because with this Highlander I only go to the gas station once every 5 to 6 weeks. Lol

Another question - do those side mirrors that fold in (14:55) also tilt down when you put the car in reverse (to better see the left curb)? I know it's got the 360 degree cameras, but, I'm still curious.
@kenholmes2116 Жыл бұрын
I test drove a 2023 Elite a week ago and the rear view mirror that you have selected on the adjustment switch will auto move down when you go into reverse just like my 2019 Touring does - I would assume the 24 would do the same.
@davewilson7602 Жыл бұрын
I have a passport, in reverse the right mirror or left mirror will tilt down depending which mirror is selected on the adjustment panel. So you can have either tilt down depending on what you need to see. It’s helpful for backing into spaces.
