I've talked about sizing up in a lot of videos but haven't given specific dimensions on what works for who. Or whom? Either way, I have a board sizing chart that I've been working on but trying to nail some details before going public. Thanks for the input and I'll add it to the video idea list! Thanks 👊🏼

Hey Shaun thank you for always sharing the love of wakeboarding. Can you please shed a light on 3 stage vs continuous rocker vs subtle rocker? Is the continuous really that much smoother leaving the wake and then on landing? I stopped wakeboarding 10 years ago due to work/family/commitments but now getting back to it and lots have changed in 10 years! Thank you again for all that you do for the love of the sport!
@Shaun.Murray Жыл бұрын
Rocker is how the board is bent from tip to tail and is one of the major factors in how a board rides. Since this is a longer explanation than I have time to type out right now, I'm going to add this to the list of things to shoot but will try to push it towards the top.
@hishamnoor5579 Жыл бұрын
@@Shaun.Murray thank you so much Shaun! Respect 🫡
@hishamnoor5579 Жыл бұрын
@@Shaun.Murray also, if I may ask, what do they mean when they say that a continuous rocker is faster than a 3 stage when the boat is riding at the same speed for both? Are they referring to the feeling of the speed or does the board actually travel faster? Thank you again for helping out! 🙏
@Shaun.Murray Жыл бұрын
@@hishamnoor5579 has to do with how much drag a board has which means the rider has to work less to keep it going. Can't really say that all continuous rocker boards are faster and 3 stage are slower, just somewhat of a general guideline to follow.

Hi, I've gotten my first wakeboard which was a ronix vault and I've got an old ski rope and I'm wondering if a more higher end wake rope and handle like the Murray one would be worth buying or if cheaper ones are still good.
@Shaun.Murray11 ай бұрын
A good wake rope can make a difference but the biggest thing you're looking for is a non stretch line so the rope doesn't feel like a bungee cord, and a good grip on the handle so your arms don't pump out. I make sure my lines are pretty static rather than dynamic and the chamois handle is a great grip.

Been testing one of these out. I feel loose when I get on the outside compared to other boards I ride. It seems nice to butter board at higher speeds than I normally can, and more forgiving when would catch and edge usually. This is still taking some getting used to for me. Glad I found this video now I understand why. keep up the good work.
@Shaun.Murray5 ай бұрын
I understand the feeling you're talking about. It's most likely bc you came from a board that had bigger fins or bottom features like deep channels and molded in fins. You can try putting bigger fins like 1" and it will feel more locked in. I like the little looser feel with the .8" fins so it stays playful. Have you seen this edit I did on "fins"? kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5_CfaJ8rJx3ZrMsi=OuO2wFhOGVdR6YfC

Hi Shaun - i was amazed how at 7:29 where you stalled the board so long it started to sink, then turned right angles into the wake for the raley - building max tension or just fooling around?
@Shaun.Murray Жыл бұрын
Nice catch. It's not only fun but it mainly allows me to build angle early. Angle equals power and speed so the longer I can build it up, the higher and farther I can travel

Shaun, I had a 2010 Murray Nova. Loved the board but unfortunately lasted too little. No warranty under HL or answer ever… I want to get a board with the same sort of feel. I am riding a little longer than I should (144 and I am 5’6 -5’7ish) What would a current Murray Board be everything and more of what I expect? Ideally, what lenght should I get? I believe I should be between 37-39 range… not going into weight specifics 😅

@@Shaun.Murray would you say that a Current model of the Murray will get me that sort of feeling? I currently got a Ronix RXT but I just don’t love it. It’s great but I don’t feel it as natural as I did the Murray 🥲

That looks awesome, Love the marbling as well!! my artist/designer side thinking it would be neat if the different sizes would have a different top graphic with white(150)to grey(144) to black(139) with the marbling! and keeping the red,oranges, blue black .Didn’t hyperlite use to do different top graphics on your boards or am I dreaming that?

Right on! I set my 139 at middle inserts, 15 degrees out on each. On my 144, I move my front foot back one so my stance isn't so wide. Yes, it's tail heavy but don't really notice when riding switch

@Shaun.Murray4 ай бұрын
The shape has remained the same since 2015 so you can look back and get lots of different graphics. Price depends on the year and if you're getting bindings with it. Usually a pretty good buy.
@theboshmeister8627 Жыл бұрын
Love everything about this except one thing, the binding mounting holes! Why only 3 positions and not 4 like the older boards and every other manufacturer? My buddy has the 2023 150 model and for me at 6ft, the stance is too wide to be comfortable and my old (50) hips and knees are not happy. I have a 155cm sling and can set a much narrower stance than the 150 Murray. Very frustrating as I would buy this board in a heartbeat if not for this annoying feature. Please Shaun, 4 mount holes like the old days 🙏
@Shaun.Murray Жыл бұрын
Good feedback Bosh. Not sure if they would revisit the 4 hole pack but I can bring it up. The other solution would be to bring in the inserts bc I'm not sure if anyone runs the widest stance on that board. Anyone here ride the Hyperlite Murray 150 w the stance all the way out?

I’d like to see a bit narrower stance available too. I’m 5’9”, 185, ride a 139. Son is 5’9”, 145, rides 144. Both 2022 or ‘23 Murray’s. I keep both of ours at most narrow but another set of inserts inward seems like it may be perfect, especially on the 144.

Love ALMOST everything about this board, responsiveness, pop, lightness… BUT I’ve gone through 2 boards in 2 weeks I first bought a 2022 new and the front tip delaminated after 1 ride so they sent me a 2023 and on my second ride on it I hit a roll to flat and the board went soft… it snapped in the middle. I’m 160 lbs and an intermediate rider at best. I’m just wondering if I got unlucky with quality on these or if there could be something wrong with the strength of the core it’s self. Just a slightly concerned customer. Hopefully y’all got it figured out on this newest board.
