The longest embargo in history??? November is when you did the event what about 8 weeks or so. Can't wait to see them give you the top spec, odd they had the entry level only for you on this media drive. Interesting about the off road and torque vectoring you were talking about I know it has about 15cm/6" of clearance under it which isn't bad. Plus it can tow and take a 100kg roofbox. Weird your not getting a higher charge rate as I know the reviews I've seen from Europe they got 103kW peak. As always need more chargers both AC & DC. Glad to see you got some rain to test the wipers as well. Thanks Tom. Looking forward to next livestream can hopefully talk abit more about your impressions and the car now it's out of embargo. I"m test driving the premium spec tomorrow morning on an extended test drive as I requested and was granted so 2hrs to see if it will work for me....which I think it will do in spades. :)

Europe has a different battery size and also another electric motor. 218bhp and a battery of 65,4kwh so that's why you get slower charging speed in Australia. USA, Canada and Australia get other power/battery setup. Also the cars are built in Korea for the countries outside Europe and in the Czech Republic for EU.

Spare spacesaver tyre should now be reintroduced to all EVs, now that ranges of 500km are routinely being attained by base models. Time was once where the tyre was omitted for efficiency reasons, but that boat has sailed, and there's really no need not to have one as standard any more. This is a big plus for the 2024 Kona in my view.
@LudicrousFeed

@Rabs73
@Rabs73 4 ай бұрын
Agree. It's annoying having to put a spare in the boot of our Model 3 for most of our trips (we are rural). Tesla, for example, only do a mobile service for a tyre if you are within I think 80km of a service centre. Not much good in Australia! And only so much a tyre goo kit can do.

First ev I've actually wanted to operate. Good to see Hyundai's internal layout, so much more practical than the minimalist approach. The only let down is the external styling, which is disappointing and hard to understand how it was given the go ahead. But overall a very encouraging indication that Hyundai's new evs will be competitive, practical and well priced.

One more comment on the ANCAP rating. It's surprising to see a reputable manufacturer like Hyundai only get 4 star rating. From what I understand from another article, they were dangerously close to be awarded 3 star ratings. Now, I'm sure a lot of people don't bother with ratings (otherwise we would have 0 MG3s on the road), but when you see companies such as BYD go that extra mile to make alterations to their design (e.g. Dolphin) so that they get a 5 star rating, it makes you wonder if Hyundai have just been lazy. Poor form from Hyundai.

It has been a year since Hyundai released the Ioniq 6 in Australia. In that time they have released ONE update via their OTA (over the air) update mechanism - they refuse to stay what was actually added or fixed when they are contacted on multiple occasions via their Customer Service or Bluelink team - this can only mean that nothing of note was changed. At the same time, UK and US customers have received OTA updates consistently nearly every month adding MANY MANY new features and fixes. They even fixed the broken EV Route Planning functionality, while for Australian customers this continues to be broken. Their new Kona 2024 has EV Route Planning in a working state. The Ioniq 6 is the Hyundai “flag ship” car. Hyundai Australia are f**ked. Think long before you buy their EV cars. They may be in the EV space now, however they very much behave like an old school ICE company - at least in Australia. As a reviewer, you should call them out on this disgusting post sales service.
