2024 IRS TAX REFUND UPDATE - NEW Refunds Processed, Delays, Notices, Refund Freezes, Issues

On today’s IRS tax refund update we will take a look at the latest developments including the next batch of tax refunds scheduled for release, and from there we recap those notices currently being sent out by the IRS as reported by a number of our viewers as well as those tax topic codes appearing on those refund status results and 810 refund freeze codes appearing on some of those tax transcripts. Starting out with the latest as the next round of tax refunds is scheduled for release on June 26th, now if you are part of this latest refund batch while most will receive that direct deposit refund post to their bank accounts on June 26th do allow up to 5 additional days for it to post to your bank account before initiating a payment trace with the IRS, also as an additional reminder not all refund status results will update so it is important to check your tax transcripts for the most up to date information available in regards to your tax return and refund processing. Meanwhile we have also been receiving multiple questions as it pertains to notices being sent out to the IRS, and what they mean, now the CP 05 notice seen on the far left has been one of the most commonly receive notices this year, and simply means the IRS is reviewing your tax return specifically as it relates to the income and tax withholding you reported, but it also could be in regards to the tax credits you are claiming, in this case there is no further action necessary and often times the IRS is indicating they need additional time to conduct a review as something reported on your tax return may have triggered the IRS computer system. For those viewers encountering the 810 refund freeze code on their tax transcripts seen here this could be due a variety of reasons that will not be explained on your tax transcript and the list of causes includes something as simple as the need to complete ID verification, examination of the tax credits being claimed or self-employment income being reported in addition to verification of income, or the return being flagged by the tax shelter deduction team or frivolous return program.

Accepted Jan 29, called TAS in April 15, contacted senator to help on April 24, senator’s caseworker got back to me about taxes in error department on June 7. Finally, scheduled to get my refund June 26 with interest.

My taxes got accepted on Jan 29th. I didn't itemize anything or claim anything. I used TurboTax and just took the information from my w-2 and put it in line by line. I have gotten 2 letters saying the were reviewing my taxes for 60 days each time. This is ridiculous. Ive called every number i can find for the irs and cant talk to anyone its all automated. Is there a number to actually talk to an agent? This has gone on long enough. I feel sorry for everyone on the video experiencing the same thing.

I do the same and had never got a problem a soon as irs accept my tax get accepted the whole process is on time and without any problems, just this year I barely file my taxes last week waiting to get approved it hopefully next week, the only “mistake” “I did” was I put the wrong bank account I put the one I closed a few months ago now I have to call on Monday to tell them cancel the direct deposit and just send the refund on paper check 😤

Mine is finally coming on the 26th. I filed 2/2. Accepted 2/2. No updates until this 6/21. They would only say the entire time over the past 5months that it was a computer error. I had zero issues with my filings. Got more money due to interest they are paying out. At this point they could have held another two months 😂

I've been on hold for my taxes in January 29th I filed I got my first 60-day letter on March 11th got my second 60-day letter May 21st and I just got another one June 13th so I don't even know what's going on with my taxes when I called the IRS I finally got through and I talked to somebody they said that my employer reported to W-2 forms so that's what's going on with the holdup on contacting my previous employer to see if they can go into the computer and remove one of them and they're not willing to do it so right now I'm just playing wait game

21 weeks since I filed my 2023 tax returns. My Senator at last helped get movement by obtaining the aid of the Taxpayer Advocate's office in late May. Her office asked (about 10 days after my 1st 60 extension letter from the IRS had expired without even a peep out of the IRS) to submit a 1099 and year-end IRA statement. No updated codes since 3/18, but my wage transcript was updated 20 days ago at the same time I received a 2nd 60 day extension letter. So, the IRS now has all of my info/documents and....shocker....it all matches my filed return 100%, yet no new codes or refund. Can I just drive to Kansas City and show the IRS worker where the "refund approved" and "send refund" buttons are located on his/her computer? It can't be more complicated than that at this point. Press that button! Press that button! Everyone...shout it out with me PRESS THAT BUTTON!!!!! For the love of God, please press that button!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, let them fix it! That was my hold up! 3 extra W2 under $100 I didn’t submit. Do not amend they will add interest on your return. 2nd letter you getting close.. I had two letters as well and 2 weeks later I got my date for 6/26 (Congress had my case as well too)

Dear Mr: I am contacting you in further reference to your 2023 tax refund. My staff received a call from the IRS liaison who said that your return had been stuck in the errors resolution office. The issue has been corrected and your return was processed on June 13, 2024. It will take approximately 2 weeks to post to your account. Hello UI blog- got this message from IRs and I don’t even what they mean - “ We made changes to your tax return that changed the amount of your refund. Our changes eliminated your expected refund and resulted in a balance due of $1,769.28. You will receive a notice that explains the changes to your tax return. Your notice will be mailed on June 19, 2024. For more details about the changes we made to your tax return, please select the Details button.” Does that mean I will be paid only $1769 in my account from the amount requested
