I'm going to play devil's advocate. First, what is the worst thing that can happen? Second, get rid of the thought about 'journal fails'. I think our journaling is a growth process. After all, isn't that why we do it? So, as you journal, you grow, and learn, then move on to the next thing. I do understand the fear of making the first pen mark in a new journal. It causes me so much anxiety. That's why I decided to use a $1 composition book as my 'rough draft', where I write everything down. Then, I can take that information and populate my 'pretty planners'. I also have what I call my burn journal. It is a thin traveler type notebook. I don't write in it every day. I use it when I'm having a really BAD day. I am free to write ALL of my thoughts and feelings, no matter how low or ugly, or ridiculous they are. Then, when that book is full, I just burn it. It feels almost like I am able to release the bad feelings. It also helps me to not feel guilty about writing things in my pretty journal, that might be really not nice things. I hope that makes sense.

@@chaoswithsusan Oh wow Burn book is a wonderful idea Susan. I do think when i have a bad day putting it on paper actually helps me clear my thoughts. Then i didnt want them to stay on paper

the burn book is a really interesting idea. that's kind of what my moleskine pocket started out as, a place to just dump things when I was feeling angry or overly sarcastic. I didn't stick with it though. I think i might need one for next year though, b/c I think my snark level is going to reach new highs.

@ yes!! It feels so good. I bought travelers style notebooks, so they are pretty thin and inexpensive. That way, I burn more often and don’t feel like I’m burning money.

I hope the PaperTess planner really works for you in 2025. I was eyeing their "Manager" one for work, but the shipping made it cost prohibitive. Let me know how you like it as we go through 2025.
