2024 Kalamazoo Michigan Hamfest Ham Vintage Radio Electronics antique Extravaganza Tour

Footage of the Kalamazoo MI Hamfest, 5 Oct 2024. Great turn out. It was a combined event, Ham radio plus the Michigan antique radio club. Great to see the cool radios and people into the hobby. Lots of equipment. I believe the guys are starting to unload their collections. I ended up acquiring two Johnson Ranger transmitters. Very restorable. I will be posting a video on that soon. I bought a DX-160 new from radio shack back in the early 80's, looked great but was a good lesson that looks don't always match performance ;o) Always enjoy your Hamfest vids, haven't been to one in decades.

What, I didn't see any vintage portable radio phonographs. I know they exist but sellers are just far and few between. Seeing plenty of parts for sale is a good thing to see. Scott got a nice tube tester and at a very good price. Lots of stuff left at the end and you can thank crazy internet seller prices for it.

Man i got a radio that you might be the guy to get working. Its a tec tel rad telephone, but its a crystal controlled tube radio, i think for cb. i wanna hook a vfo to it. Schematics dont exist.

Nope it was my Jr High. The ships consoler (Mr Sleeper) actually used a canoe paddle with 1" drilled holes for better acceleration! Yes, I remember it well

Paddled in Farmington High in 1974 after my science teacher was bragging about how his spear gun could go thru our classroom wall and i called it BS and wanted proof. I was sent off to the principals office where the shop teacher hit me with a paddle with 20 holes in it, it broke on my butt on the first strike and I just laughed in their faces. My dad told them if they ever touched me again that my 5 uncles and dad would deal with them. Never had detention after that incident. Wb8vlc/7 in the Pacific Northwest.

Too many old people. Old people want way to much for junk they sell and will be the first to complain about something costing too much. I get everything online. Thankfully, China's products are improving every year.
