I have a 2023 ktm 500excf six days and I put the fmf 4.1 blue titanium exhaust and took the reed cage out of the air box and I used a jd jetting fuel tuner and it is a completely different bike it was a dramatic increase in performance

Just find a dealership that will do the “euro tune”. But only if you are racing it off-road of course. No dynotune needed, plus you gain a quick shifter, multiple maps and tc. (Just need to buy the switch). It only works with a euro tune though

Well, thank you for taking one for the team my friend because of your misfortune guys like me who haven’t pulled the trigger yet might be saved. Hopefully they will fix that problem. I plan on getting this bike in the next couple months and just keeping it pretty much stock, except for an exhaust cap and a taco Moto tidy tail.

from what I understand that if you put a end cap on the bike you need to change the ecu . that's what i was told !

the bike works just need to silicone the reeds in the airbox to be safe and not strand you in the middle of trail or street . I have been testing it and it works great I'm getting a ecu and fmf exhaust so should solve the problem soon . to get rid of the reeds in the airbox.

Reeds can break off at the tips and damage valves. They are only on there for epa noise.

Honestly this was nice of ktm to not use silicone and make it impossible to get reeds out like my 23 was three yourself a favor, pull the reeds out, get a slip on, and a fuel toner and gain about 20 hp

Dude I feel you, you pay allot for something that in stock form isn’t that great. Sucks, but allot of it is due to the emission requirements. Once uncorked, the bike has way more power and snap, looses that decel pop, and eliminates flameouts. Absolutely killer and they last a long time. Finally rebuilding my 14 fe501 with 400 hours. Enduro raced, boiled over numerous times, drug from Florida to Alaska on the back of a van, chucked down mountains, ran oilless for awhile after a clutch cover puncture, bouncing off the rev limiter, etc. Some wear on the rockers, exhaust valve guides worn, few scratches on the piston, water pump bearings and the clutch basket bearings had some wear. I was amazed that everything else was in spec. Don’t waste your money on a pipe, the end cap mod is just as good. Invest in the ECU and dump the reeds. Check out taco motor company and they’ll get you setup good. Cool vids man, thanks for sharing. Cheers

I like the bike in stock form! 2024 KTM 500 EXC-F in stock form is dangerous with the reed block popping out of the airbox'' the bike will shut off'' ! My 2024 500 EXC-F doesn't flame out or decyl pop I'm glad you have had great luck with your bike. my experience is not so good! My KTM 500exc-f can't make it down a trail for 20 minuets without spitting out the reed block in the air boot. I'm trying to help KTM aka Will to find a solution how to fix this problem! I have tested deferent glue or silicone to fix this problem and I'm still testing to see if it works. Hope this helps you! Also I lose bottom end if i can not find a fix for my bike. Even with a exhaust and ECU the reed block mite stay in the bike if i need it to. Torque curve and power delivery for my style of riding is deferent then your application. I like Mike at Taco moto his video's are fantastic hopefully one day I can do business' with him or who ever has a good price. Anyone want to set me up with a exhaust system and ECU I'll take it ! There are a load of options to uncork the 500 without spending anywhere close to $2000. You can spend that kinda money if you try, to be sure, but you can absolutely solve the fueling problems for less... zero if you try hard enough. $1000 solution: $800 - Vortex ECU. $159 - Pro Moto Billet exhaust endcap. $420 solution: $260 - dobeck piggyback tuner $159 - Pro Moto Billet exhaust endcap $159 solution: $0 - hacksaw / center punch to the endcap. $260 - Pro Moto Billet exhaust endcap $0 solution: $0 - hacksaw / center punch to the endcap. $0 - adjust TPS to deliver more fuel. Note, I haven't actually done this on a '24, but I suspect it'll work like it did on my '20.

I have a 24 and I just opened the filter and that piece was literally laying in the filter housing. It does have a second piece also that appears to be a clip that’s supposed to hold it in place now.

The fix is to yank out the reeds! I have the same "Nice CNC" foot brake pedal. I have put them on 4 bikes now, they hold up great.

I put a JD Tuner and a fast way pro moto billet end cap on my 24 ktm 500 excf and now it pops bad on deceleration when i slow up. Not sure why its doing it though?

Assuming the battery is fully charged and your spark plug is good an also tight. It's either very very lean on the fuel side. Meaning the jd isn't set properly. Or could be an air leak. Finally an exhuast leak if it's bad enough it will pop. Outside of these things possibilities could also include electrical issues with grounds, switches ect.

The air box reeds are there mostly for low end response. This is a trick Honda had a patent on in the 1980s . Removing the reeds will make the low end response less forgiving and the bike may stall more frequently. Also, when installing a Vortex ECU or the like one does not need to remove the reeds unless you plant to run the bike mostly at highway speeds.

Not true about the reeds and a Vortex, you don’t need the reeds anymore after a Vortex. It will have plenty of power done low. Thats the point of the Vortex more fuel and better fuel mapping. I know as I have done it.

Arrggg. U posting this is probably helping a lot of people though! Imagine being on a trip and trying to diagnose this, sounds like even KTM didnt even know. I just bought a '24 KLX, only thing I found is a big rubber gasket left on between spokes/brake rotor, after bout 100 miles of riding. I also just had a couple hundred $$$ of parts shipped to the wrong address by RMATV, their fault. When I caught the tracking number I called and they charged me another fee to redirect. When I called 2 days later they said it was dropped off in CA while I live in WI, and there nothing they could do about it. Never ordering from them again.

Rocky Mountain use to be good. They shipped me an OEM piston that was beat to shit by a loose wrist pin which they replaced under warranty. Tried using some of their tusk bearings, absolutely terrible and they were the wrong size! Sent tech support pics of their measurements with the clearance listed in the factory repair manual. They just said it will fit, no help. Avoid at all cost.

The 2024 500 exc-f will not run without the reeds in the bike. You need an ecu and exhaust. For the bike to run correctly without the reeds. The bike will run lean without the reeds in the bike ....

welcome to the party, go buy parts if your not happy, every complaint you made is fixable.. ecu and slip-on are game changers. followed by susp.. my 500 would smoke a 450, easily. thing will clutch up 6th at 90mph.

i got them on amazon years ago ! have know idea ! sorry ! they suck anyway you don't want them trust me i don't want them on my bike the only reason they are on their is because the stock mirrors were falling off the bike and slapped me around a bit. LOL .....invest in double take mirrors that's what i'm getting soon

it would bother me spending all the money on this bike and it is neutered from the factory... I think that vortex ecu would be the very first thing everybody needs on this. without it it stalls too easily

The bike runs great in 2024 you just need to glue the reed block in the airbox.
