I love your honesty , and your perspective as a dealer, customers near to hear about the issues you deal with in regards to setting up and tuning a bow, and how long that actually takes . As a Mathews fan I must admit, their adjustment and the ability to tune them easily leaves a lot to be desired, I am obsessive about many things and I have gone down the rabbit hole with the whole "perfect tune " perception, obviously the bow needs to be tuned , but , through the years I have discovered that you are spot on with what you say over and over , it is very seldom the equipment , it is the human using the equipment that is the issue , like you say , "just shoot a lot " and you will improve ! Thank You for you honest opinion !

I find it baffling that bow companies are still able to sell module-based cams. I know why they're doing it (dealers can charge for them, the manufacturer gets a profit from each module sold to dealers). Mathews is notorious for the draw length coming in long (anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 inch long) so if i order one and I change releases or want to tweak my draw length, I have to go to a dealer and buy a different module. To hell with that. I'm sticking with rotating modules. I don't care if i don't get "peak efficiency" at my draw length. I don't check the speed of my bows, anyway. The Bridge Lock system is stupid because sights are not designed to be mounted that close to the centershot. You have to use an offset bracket to keep from running out of windage, and then the body of the sight sits where it would have sat if you just mounted it to the side of the riser. The stabilizer system costing that much is just insulting.

You're a breath of fresh air. I watched three reviews from American channels, and they all talked about how great the new design features worked, but said very little about the price or the cost to archery distributors. Kind of like the guy who mumbles, and you ask him "What?" And then he puts his hand over his mouth and mumbles again. Really appreciate you're perspective--you're a Saint for the archery distributor.

However, in today's world this is inconceivable and I would definitely look at other well made, easy to tune, big names that i can tune at home, esp since I have no shops near me any more. P.S. You don’t necessarily need a whole new press. If you have the LCA press there is a wider finger attachment that they sell. Think it’s 80 bucks. But yeah still have to buy something more to work on the 2k bow you just bought. Hoyt also did this with the carbon deviants in 17/18. Had to buy a $200 LCA attachment. All companies have either done the module or cam thing. Think HOYT target SVX Cams. Wish all companies went to a rotating mod. But Mathews gotta pay all that contingency money to the pros somehow…oh push it on the consumer!

Mathews is a sales & marketing driven company…. the bow is designed as a accessory platform… the accessories cost as much…. or more than the bow…! They also lock you and the shop into the brand… once you are in the ecosystem there is a big price to leave. Lots of modules, tophat, stabilizer & weights that can only be sold to a mathews customer… it will add to Mathews bottom line but not yours lol… That said the bow looks great… I want one… I want all accessories and I am sure the bow will shoot great… Better than the TRX as it looks like the limbs are less parallel and you will get more feedback with the shot. Lol extra $$ for aftermarket grip.

You do not have to order a new bow press, only replacing the last chance archery finger spacing post… $80 from last chance archery And you do not have to exclusively use the Mathews stabilizers.. Also only order a few set of mods in the middle range of let off and draw length for the few titles you have in stock… if they wanna buy the bow then you can order mods for them that are more specific… your blowing everything WAY out of proportion

We are looking at picking them up in our shop next year and will only stock the 85% mods at 70lbs and 60lbs for the Lift and only from 27-30 draw. Might expand that draw range slightly. Customer will have to pre pay (no refund) if they want to try another mod out. Which we would discount down to cost. Not a great system for anybody to have to deal with shop or customer wise, but have to prioritize the shops budget over customer convenience in this case. Can't sell them anything if we go out of business on freaking mods.

Good points and I’ll acknowledge them all (and I’m a Mathews shooter, living in the SE United States). A growing trend you guys may not see is people competing with the V3X or Phase 4. In the ASA pro classes there are several archers consistently making the shoot off and winning. In amateur classes the same thing is happening. The “hunting” bow shoots SO well and is obviously $800 cheaper. I spoke with Andy Callaway (a Mathews pro) at the Classic and we joked that the only thing that makes a bow a “hunting” bow is broadheads. Honest review

I shot a lot of tournaments years ago before 3d became a thing. I remember when we first saw 3d targets on the course as opposed to hay bails and paper targets. Just letting everyone know how long ago it's been. Anyway, I shot for an archery shop and could try any bow they had. I shot many brands and I can tell you that most bows will shoot great and most times it's the archer not the bow. I have an old mathews ultra max and several PSE bows. They are all great bows. You are right. The bow shops will be the ones to suffer trying to keep customers happy with the expensive mathews set up.

@ScottPankhurst
@ScottPankhurst 6 ай бұрын
this didn't age well. the Title is currently one of the most popular selling bows ever. yes, you need to stock modules. but you don't need a wall of $2K+ bows to suit archers who need different draw lengths, draw weights and letoffs. modules are a small stock investment compared to bows. nor are preloaded limbs new. and Last Chance Archery long since released a cheap upgrade kit for their presses to cope with the wider limb pockets. and there's no obligation to use the bridge-lock stabilisers if you don't want to. conventional accessories fit fine.

Great looking bow, and I love that they have put all their latest tech in to their target bow. It's odd, but in the passed few years, Hoyt and Matthews seem to have rolled out new tech on their hunting range that never makes it to their target bows. First Matthews bow that has really raised my interest since the introduction of the "No-cam" design - not that they were particularly successful, but at least it was something new and interesting. That said, absurdly expensive, and that's before you even start adding the stabilisers! Yes it interests me, yes it has a good feature set (even if some things, like the Phase4 limb technology, seem kind of unnecessary on a target bow) but I can't see me ever affording one, and even if I could, I couldn't justify buying it. Almost seems like they have thrown everything they can in to this design, pretty much just so it can be the most expensive commercial bow ever made..... 😆

I have had only 1 Matthews bow and that was the No-cam. It was an absolutely wonderful bow and I regret that I sold it and I don't understand why they didn't continue that line. It was a very nice concept. My main issue was that it only had string stop and I (allways) shoot back tension release and around 42# peak draw weight. That combination was not so good. But before I sold it, I actually shot my at the moment (still) best at 18 m FITA / WA, at 550 p.

There's a lot of points I see in this video but..... most shops in the US don't keep all mods. They order a select few most used and then you do a direct order from your dealer. Top hats, it's not the fastest as bowtech and elite but it's not slow as spacers... I know from doing my own work for many years on all types of bows and models. I know one thing, the top hats are SOLID with NO movement like bowtech and elite can have. It doesn't take long to change them. I do agree mods suck at times but I know their the most efficient at my length no matter what mod. Even if it's only a few fps than a rotating mod I'll take it. It keeps the draw the best at every length also. So again I'll take this for mods vs rotating mods. You don't need a new press for these limbs. They have adapters for lca presses

Mathews knows this is a bow that only certain people will buy. They are a hunting bow company. The hunting bows pay the bills. As far as the mods, rotating mods suck they perform well at some draw lengths not so well at others. Mathews modules ensure that the shooter gets the most amount of performance possible at there draw lengths. You lost your Mathews dealership, you don’t sell them. Why are you even discussing there product. I have bowhunted and shot archery all my life. And have been in I don’t know how many shops in the us. None of them stock target bows. They stock hunting bows, if you want a target bow they will order it for you. If you get it and decide you want to change mods they order those for you. Someone like Gellenthien probably only had to call Mathews, tell them his preferred specs and they'd ship a fully setup bow to him overnight. More likely the contracts were better, financially speaking, on the other side of the fence.

Finally an honest review, I think the cost of getting into archery is the reason for the steady decline of the sport. With items like this it would seem the company is looking for a short term gain, it’s really disappointing.

I'm not sure if he sells athens but they have a great felling draw cycle and are great for a cheaper bow the vista 35 is a Simlar feel to the evo nxt 35 except the draw is smoother on the athens I just don't like being in the middle of both modules.

I’m sorry but this is really NOT a good a review. It’s just trash talk. There are equal pro and cons to any and all bows. He is not a Mathews dealer and therefore doesn’t want people buy Mathews is what it seems like. His complaints about the mods are unfounded since any shop that sells Mathews already has switch weight mods. His complaint about buying a new press is incorrect. Shops will need to get new brackets for the press fingers that are wider but that’s new parts not a new press. The wider press bracket is also useful for other wider limb bows on the market as well. Tuning bows using shims, such as top hats, is commonplace and not difficult but yes does require a press as does nearly every other tuning method. I do agree that Mathews accessories are over priced and non transferable which sucks. The price of the Title though shouldn’t be a surprise with inflation and current msrp of 2023 target bows and carbon bows. Lastly, he never once touched the Mathews Title (not a Mathews dealer) in his review and is guessing on many of his opinions.

Mathews couldn’t do what Elite and Bowtech did for ease of adjustability because exactly as it sounds…. They would be following. Mathews definitely left the average consumer out of this equation. What next years bow going to cost… $2500? Imagine the pro shooters forced to try and push this to market saying this is the best Mathews bow yet, “go and buy one”. 😂😂😂😂😂

Ok I appreciate your reviews. But you should learn the product before you review it. You DO NOT need a new bow press….you just need the wider press fingers. Yes it’s expensive but everything is. As far as the top hats go….a knowledgeable bow tech can pretty well guess after the tear what top hats you need assuming the timing and center shot is correct. The 8 limb configuration was not designed for accuracy……it was designed to increase efficiency of the bow. Modular based bows are more efficient through out the draw length spectrum of the cam. Don’t believe me take a rotating modular based bow and check the holding weights through out every draw length……the top end of the cam will achieve the holding weight….the lower half will not. To finish don’t rip on a product that you CLEARLY know nothing about since you’re not a dealer.
@liamboyle9199
@liamboyle9199 11 ай бұрын
This is one of those cases where the theory doesn't necessarily mean it's great in practice. Surely you agree the amount of modules you'd have to stock is ridiculous, to think it isn't is in itself ridiculous... Even a module with limited rotation would be great. If the Poms (Mybo) can do it, so can Matthews, or in fact anyone😂 Bows should be relatively user friendly ans that has been happening in recent times (¼ adjustment, easier tuning for those who care about it, etc) There a great video of Hoyt saying we use modules to have consistent cycles etc etc and look what they have now. Were the limbs made for efficiency? Far as I've seen it's about making a more vibration free bow? I'd be interested to see how the strip in the middle improves efficiency. Maybe I've missed something Wonder what will come first, a Matthews with a superb grip from the get-go or some form of rotating module😬 At the end of the day the bow will be very good, it's hard to justify in the current era.
@derekbonser-xk7bz
@derekbonser-xk7bz 11 ай бұрын
The less vibration the bow has means it’s more efficient. My comment was more towards the over all knowledge of the bow and not a personal opinion of he thinks it is. He mispoke numerous times in this review.
@liamboyle9199
@liamboyle9199 11 ай бұрын
@derekbonser-xk7bz So, does that mean if I put a dampener on my front rod, my bow becomes more efficient? Or if I shoot a significantly heavier arrow, does that improve efficiency? But let's say I am completely wrong because in fairness I just woke up😂 and it does in fact improve the energy transfer, how much improvement are we talking? If I had to guess, probably not enough to improve the majority of people. The bow feeling less harsh would become the bigger selling point. Well it's not the first time someone has miss spoken. The bit about the press is probably more of a in the moment thing, the idea is the same, you need to buy something else to make it work.

The most expensive bow will not improve one's scores if the shooter has bad form. It's never been about the bow as much as it is about the archer. All these new features are about getting consumers to open their wallets. Serious target archers who are switched on won't fall for marketing ploys. However, there are those geek types who will buy every piece of useless equipment in the hope that they'll be magically transformed into Olympic archers in the blink of an eye when they struggle to consistently hit the red at thirty yards.

Why aren't Mathews short hunting bows 27", 28" etc cheaper than their 32" to 35" hunting bows if the justification of the expense of the target bow is riser length? Rhetorical.
