Hi Gagan - Big fan of yours. Quick question - The problem you mentioned at 6:55 &7:15 about wireless charging, why can't companies give the cars for testing like phone companies do before they are finalized? The engineers are there but there are some real life scenarios which I feel they miss out. If you are paying 1.5 Cr and above for a car, don't you think these minor things should be taken care of?

There is a genuine problem. The standard phone size is 72mm wide (size of women pockets) and ultra models are wider. So what is the problem with having the charging pads wider? Its all about efficiency. Wireless charging is highly dependent on alignment and the phone and the charging coil should be in as good alignment as possible. If you dont do it, the phone will charge but the efficiency will drop significantly which will heat up both the phone and the coil - thats why a lot of the expensive cars have ventilated charging pads with built in fans. So having a wider charging pad will cause a lot of the phones to be out of alignment and this will lead to inefficiencies and heating - charging will also be slow. So it has a lot to do with the technology and the limitation there in - its not that Merc or BMW did not pay attention. PS: I used to design rezence and Qi based chargers in my past life ;)
