Mid-Autumn Festival takes place annually on the 15th day of the 8th Chinese lunar month. In 2024, it falls on Sep.17. Combining one day of the Mid-Autumn Festival and two weekend days, Chinese people usually have a 3-day public holiday.
There are many stories and legends about its origin. The most famous one is 嫦娥奔月, the beauty Chang'e flying to the moon.

I enjoyed your video and I have a few more questions.. Does it matter where the prayer table is set up to worship the moon? Can it be in the backyard of the house or does it have to be in the front of the house? Is there a specific time during the evening that the prayer begins? We tried moon cakes and enjoyed them at a store called Uwajimaya and had no idea why we couldn’t find them again till I researched and found out about mid autumn festival. Thank you for the information. Great video.
